I am staying in a condo just east of the Whale's Tail restaurant and unless I get to the beach at 6:30 am, the rental guys take every inch of beach front with their chairs and umbrellas for a quarter mile. I'm 63 and can't walk that far. I think that stinks and want to know who owns/runs this operation on Destin's public beaches. OK, from my balcony I just counted 107 rental umbrellas in a row. Also, we rented one the other day and for 2 chairs and one umbrella it cost us $40! That part of the beach is owned by Seascape - it is up to them to allow the chair guys on the property - they get a portion of the rental proceeds. Destin has no control over this - in fact area is in Miramar Beach/ One destination mentioned in this post There is a special rule that applies for those setting up beach chairs to rent. I beleive it has something to do with a 10 foot distance from the point of high tide to where the chair rows can start. We typicaly put our chairs right at the high tide point with no compaints but sometimes a dirty look

Guess that's what we'll do. Found some chairs in our unit but no umbrella. With 3 grandchildren, they want to be right at the water's edge...... I find it hard to believe the Seascape owns the beach all the way to the Whale's Tail... that's a lot of beach. Where's the public beach? Each area, each condo area for the most part picks whom they want to set up the services or they send out bids...have a few good friends that got some good contracts along 30a AND YES they do very well financially during the season... Supply and demand is how they get those prices..... I don't care if they set em up, I will carry my chair ,cooler and park it in front of them We rent the set-ups and will request one right by the water and they always accomodate us. Many properties offer Complimentary Beach Service, so you have chairs waiting for you and you don't have to haul your own down.... WE are renting a house that has beach service provided. Essentially we are getting 2 chairs and one unbrella for 17 people.

That just isn't gong to cut it. We are all ready paying almost $10,000 for the house. For each adult to have a chair for the week it will cost us another $840? That is just crazy. So, if we just set up closer to the water we should be ok? Does that include popping up a Cabana or will that be pushing it? no offense, maybe you were unaware but did you check into the amount of beach chairs that the rental home was going to provide? Most rental(s) of the condos do normally give you 2 as well. Is the house you are renting on the gulf ? To me there is nothing wrong with setting up beach chairs close to the water line ( i may be incorrect but i think its 20 feet - so its open season to set up camp in front of already set up beach service rental chairs.) the cabana thing - I personally wouldnt go that far - What is the way to do a best wedding proposal in Destin? Some of these activities require special equipment such as a surfboard if you want to ride the waves or snorkeling equipment if you want to dive down to check out the bottom of the ocean. Since not everyone has the money to purchase this equipment and haul it to the beach, you can cash in by learning how to start a beach rental company. Create a business plan. Determine the specifics of what you plan to rent out as part of your beach rental company since some people choose to rent out beach houses while others opt for surfing and snorkeling gear. Set the days and hours of operation as well as what seasons you're open. Decide what it will cost to start the beach rental company as well as how long you'll need to sustain your business on your start-up funds before you make a profit.

Get liability insurance to protect you in the event someone is injured in or around your facility while also obtaining property insurance to protect your facility in the event a hurricane, tsunami, fire or other natural disaster damages or destroys your business.Look for a facility on or near the beach since this allows beach goers easy access to your business. Consider hiring only temporary or seasonal staff to help you operate your beach rental company if you are only open during the summer season.Create a website to highlight your beach rental company, and incorporate an online or phone booking system that provides customers an easy way to rent a beach house or beach equipment. Hang fliers in popular restaurants and hotels on and near the beach since tourists frequent these places during their stay. Make sure all rental equipment such as surfboards, beach umbrellas and snorkeling equipment has your company name and phone number on it in large type since this allows other beach goers to know where to go to rent the same equipment.Consider expanding your beach rental company to offer food and drinks, since not all beach-goers bring their own with them.

Include souvenirs and T-shirts if you are in a location frequented by tourists. Find instructors willing to teach surfing or snorkeling to people who are interested since this encourages them to rent the equipment for these activities from your business.
