The Opry is dedicated to honoring country music and the history that surrounds it. The Ryman Auditorium was home to The Opry until 1974. At this point the show moved to the 4,400 seat Grand Ole Opry House, located nine miles east of downtown Nashville. Built in 1924, the Delta Queen has been used in multiple different locations all over the country. The Carter House and Carnton Plantation, Franklin The Carter house was built in 1830 and held witness to one of the deadliest battles during the Civil War on November 30, 1864. The home was used as the Federal command post while the Carter family were safely in the basement.




The Carnton Plantation was built in 1826. During the Battle of Franklin, the Carnton Plantation found itself being used as a field hospital to wounded Confederate soldiers. After the war, the family set aside two acres of their property so that the remains of those who died at the Battle of Franklin could be properly buried. William Blount Mansion, Knoxville The Blount Mansion was home to the only territorial governor of the Southwest Territory, William Blount. William Blount built his mansion in Knoxville after signing the Treaty of Holston. Blount was also a signer of the United States Constitution and a United States Senator. He lived on the property with his family. The wood framed home is sheathed in wood siding, being one of the first such homes as most homes of this era were log cabins. 200 West Hill Avenue Known as the Volunteer State, Tennessee became the 16th state of union in 1796.
