It’s opening week, and mixed messaging is prevalent at the new Ludlow Coffee Supply. A quick glance at 176 Ludlow Street might give the wrong impression that the dearly departed Pink Pony is still operational. Indeed, Sweet Chick owner and manager John Seymour and Kyle Martin respectively decided to retain the restaurant’s branded window leafing. Seymour and Martin transformed the Ludlow Street eatery into a four-table coffee shop hybrid that includes a four-chair barbershop. It’s a strange combination, to say the least. The tiny cafe is positioned front-of-house, and utilizes the weathered Pink Pony’s old bar-top; the barbershop straddles the middle of the space; office space rounds out the last third of square-footage in the back. Hours of operation are 8am to 8pm. Meanwhile, we’re told that it’ll be another week until the barbershop element – Ludlow Barber Supply – is up and running. Management is still looking for barbers to fill the chairs (barber license + experience required).

“Maybe this is their ‘respect’ for the LES history, man,” one reader quips. “But I see [the use of Pink Pony] just as fake as the purple bar at Indigo.” Supply The Block !!!!!! #nuffsaid Congrats to my boys @johnseymour_nyc @kylenyc on the new spot #ludlowcoffeesupply And another one !!! Look No Where Else Salon Owner's Blog: Acrylic vs. Gel: When it comes to getting your nails done, there are so many different options it can be hard to decide which type to choose. If you are looking for some glamorous false nails instead of just a simple manicure, you have two main options – acrylic and gel. Acrylic Nails:Acrylic nails have been around for longer than gel, and for that reason they are still the more popular choice. Acrylic can be used to cover your natural nails to give them strength, or over false tips to add length and shape. There are a few advantages to choosing acrylic instead of gel. Acrylic nails are generally cheaper than gel nails, so if you are on a budget they are a great choice. They are also easier to remove than gel, and can simply be soaked off in nail polish remover. Because of the strength of the acrylic, these nails tend to last longer depending on how fast your natural nails grow. The downside to acrylic is that it can really damage your natural nails, so if that’s a concern for you, then gel is probably a better option.
