On June 16, 2019, President of the People's Republic of Bangladesh Mohammed Abdul Hamid arrived in Uzbekistan on an informal visit.

Deputy Prime Minister of Uzbekistan Aziz Abdukhakimov, Head of Bukhara region Uktam Barnoyev and Ambassador extraordinary and plenipotentiary of the People's Republic of Bangladesh to Uzbekistan Mosud Mannan met with the President of Bangladesh at Bukhara International airport. In Bukhara, the Bangladesh delegation visited the memorial complex of Bahauddin Naqshbandi, the Ark fortress, Poi-Kalon complex, Labi-Hauz architectural ensemble.


On June 17, a delegation of the People's Republic of Bangladesh headed by President Abdul Hamid arrived in Tashkent. The high delegation accompanied by the Deputy Prime Minister of Uzbekistan Aziz Abdukhakimov visited a number of attractions of the capital – the memorial complex "Hazrati Imom", the State Museum of the history of Temurids, as well as the textile factory "Uztex Chirchik".

During a visit to the Hazrati Imom memorial complex, President Abdul Hamid, accompanying his family and officials, was explained in detail the concept of creating a Center of Islamic civilization in Tashkent.


During the visit, the guests visited the Friday mosque and got acquainted with the Holy Quran of Usman. The Head of Bangladesh with admiration supported the idea of the President Shavkat Mirziyoyev on the establishment of the centre of Islamic civilization, the architectural merits of the complex "Hazrati Imam". He also highly appreciated the work carried out by the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan to promote the true essence and importance of the sacred religion of Islam, and he also noted the commonality of our two nations, confessing the Sunni movement "hanafia".

The President of the People's Republic during the visit said that every resident of Bangladesh from school years learns about Bukhara and Samarkand as the centers of Islamic civilization and the homeland of Islamic theologians, the authors of the sacred Hadiths.


In the State Museum of the history of the Temurids, the President of Bangladesh was told about the origins of the great Empire, the role and importance of Amir Temur in world history, the principles of fair governance. President Abdul Hamid noted the historical ties between Uzbekistan and Bangladesh.

In particular, he said that "the modern capital of Bangladesh - Dhaka was founded by the grandson of Babur (Tamerlane descendant) Jahangir and was originally called "Jahangir Nagar" ( as "the city of Jahangir"), and one of the largest and best universities in Bangladesh is called - Jahangirnagar University.

During the visit President of Bangladesh Abdul Hamid gladly supported the proposal of the Uzbek side to establish cooperation in the field of education, in particular with the University "Jahangir Nagar".


 "It is a great pleasure from what I saw, and being in the Holy land of the homeland of the great Islamic scholars-the drafters of Hadith, I sincerely thank President Shavkat Mirziyoyev for the opportunity to visit Uzbekistan and its historical cities." - said the head of Bangladesh.

The day earlier, on June 15, President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev received the head of Bangladesh in his residence at the summit of the Conference on Interaction and Confidence Building Measures in Asia held in Dushanbe.

During the visit to the textile factory "Uztex Chirchik" in Tashkent region the President of Bangladesh and other members of the delegation organized a presentation of the development of the textile industry in Uzbekistan and conducted a tour of the production facilities and modern medical center of the textile factory.

"Here, the modern textile factories equipped with the most advanced technological equipment have been built in Uzbekistan. Our two countries have great opportunities for cooperation and joint access to foreign markets”. - he noted.

At the end of the visit of Tashkent an official reception on behalf of the Embassy of the Peoples's Republic of Bangladesh with participation of the President of the Republic of Bangladesh Abdul Hamid, Minister of Foreign affairs of the People's Republic of Bangladesh Professor Abdul Momena was organized. The wide reception was attended by several members of the Government of Uzbekistan, heads of a number of major associations and companies, representatives of the diplomatic corps.


On the third day of his visit to Uzbekistan, June 18, Bangladeshi President Abdul Hamid accompanied by Deputy Prime Minister Aziz Abdukhakimov arrived in Samarkand. During his brief stay in the station building, the head of the people's Republic of Bangladesh was inspired by the unique architecture of the railway station.

During his visit to Hazrati hizr complex, President Abdul Hamid laid flowers at the grave of the First President of the Republic of Uzbekistan I. A. Karimov. The high guest was presented a sightseeing tour of the complex, including the history of its creation, told about some moments from the life of the First President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Islam Karimov.

During the visit to Samarkand region, the delegation also visited the memorial complex of Imam al-Bukhari – one of the most revered shrines of Islam in Central Asia. The complex was built on the initiative of the First President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Islam Karimov in 1997-1998 on the ancient place of the bury of the famous Islamic religious figure, researcher of the Hadiths of the Holy Quran.
