Sitting independently is a big one because now your baby can sit alone on the floor and begin to use both hands to grasp and manipulate toys.
They can also now sit well in a high chair for feeding, and can sit in a grocery cart safely with supervision. This affords baby a little more independence and offers parents a little reprieve! Sitting independently is typically a 6-month milestone. Keep in mind that some babies achieve this a little earlier and some a little later. The sitting milestone can be affected by their personality – are they active and want to move, or more content and want to observe? The sitting milestone can be affected by the amount of time they have previously spent in the precursor skills (tummy time, feet to mouth, and rolling). PT’s usually recommend lots of floor time play so that babies can work on the precursor skills needed for sitting. Parents often ask what they can do to help baby sit up independently. The answer starts with making sure they have achieved precursor skills that begin to strengthen the body for the skill of sitting. 2. – Placing a baby on their tummy is a good way to begin to strengthen the muscles on the back of their body (the extensors).

Here are a few more advanced sitting positions that your baby will discover after they have achieved independent midline sitting: As your baby moves into the more advanced sitting positions, he will begin to weight shift as he attempts to explore his environment. This will take him to the next motor milestone – CRAWLING!Couldn't it at least fold up?

Does anyone know if the mini mat from Ezpz will fit & stick properly on the tray? asked on Feb 03, 2017My son will turn 6 months in two weeks and Im planning to buy him a high chair..I really wanted to buy him this one not just because of the high rates but we all know that this is made by baby bjorn that is a trusted brand..but the thing is looking in the pictures the chair is small like for barbie dolls, my son is already weighing 10 kg for a 5 mos. old baby, Im wondering if this chair will really compatible to a big and tall baby? I know I know I know a lot of you gave this chair a good reviews but please Im looking for a honest answer cause you know as a mother we all just want what is best to our LO.. asked on Jan 12, 2017 To look at the high chair is does look kind of small but it is a bit deceiving.. I received the high chair when my daughter was about 6 and a half months she's now almost 8 months old and at last measure (which was about month ago) she was 8.4kgs and 65cm tall and still fits fine.
The tray does move in and out so this would accommodate bubs that want more room. My son is 2 years and 2 months old, he's 12kgs and 87.5cm tall.. He sits in the chair quite easily and looks comfortable but does look a bit big for it.. He sits at the dining table with us anyway but he likes to sit in the high chair every now and then just because his little sister uses it.. I do believe there will be a time where my daughter will be too big for it however I don't think it will be any time soon.. Its hard to say when a child will outgrow something as one minute they can be short and stout then tall and slim the next.. So in saying that I have taken some rough measurements for you to see if it may help... Failing that I would strongly recommend if possible go to a baby shop that may have a babybjorn for you to sit your little guy in and see how he feels and looks in it. Ok please keep in mind these are all approximate and again it sounds small but it is surprising how well Bubs sit in it..
so the seat is a semi circle sort of shape and is 28cm wide at the front and 16cm from backrest to where the tray arm folds up. The backrest is approx 26cm tall The tray when slid up to the smallest position is approx 14.5cm from the backrest to the front of the tray (where Bubs belly would be close to or touching) then 17.5cm at the largest position.. My daughter is still comfortable in the smallest position. The foot rest is approx 14.5cm from the seat but I found my son who is a bit too tall, tucks his legs right up to use the foot rest or just let's his feet hang. His head also sits much higher than the top of the backrest but it's just a back support, so it doesn't need to be any higher. I hope these measurements help... I guess another question you may need to consider before buying is how long do you anticipate on using the high chair? If you want them to use it for years or whether you just want it until bub is able to sit up in normal dining chairs with a booster seat or something like that (like my son)

I'm looking to buy our first high chair for my lo (who is currently 3mo) for when we introduce solids. I love the easy clean feature but am a little worried about the safety with no straps?! I haven't had any issues with no straps... The table sits quite high and is snug against the top of the belly so this has not been an issue for my little one. The table is adjustable and when they are little, you can have it pushed in snuggly against the belly. It can then be adjusted as baby gets older. When I was considering options before I brought the Baby Bjorn, I did think of this too until I realised that other brands high chairs are quite tall and have plastic bases which I would not trust at all. The lower height, curved seat backing and the metal legs was what sold me on the Baby Bjorn... It is really well made so I have complete trust that my little girl is safe in it. It really believe that it is much safer than the some of the other brands which are cheaply made with plastic bases and could tip over. The Baby Bjorn highchair has metal legs, is much lower to the ground and the tripod splayed legs are very stable. My little girl is often trying to twist to look when there are people standing behind her, and there is no chance she can get out because the table keeps her firmly seated.
