Average cost $150-$250 compared to Stratton at PB for 10x that much! Individual comfort is key when deciding the right size mattress. Let us help you discover the many other factors that contribute to finding the perfect mattress to fit your room and your comfort needs. This is the most common size found in children's rooms, and is used on daybeds, trundle units and hideaways. The width of a twin mattress (39") is the minimal amount of space needed for a single person to lie comfortably each night. Full size beds are 15" wider than Twin beds and 5" shorter than a Queen bed. This size is a good option for a guest room or as a child's step-up mattress. Currently the dominant size bed in America, Queen Beds are 6" wider (and 5" longer) than a Full size bed. These added inches can make all the difference in comfort, but each adult still has 9" less than the width of a standard Twin bed.

However, it's a good choice for guest rooms and smaller master bedrooms. Can use standard pillows or the slightly larger queen size pillows. Approx. width per person: 30" Learn More. King beds are growing in popularity. King is about 16" wider than a Queen bed. Both are about 80" long. The Eastern King is the only bed to give each person the same width as a Twin bed. In fact you can push 2 Extra-Long Twin beds together to be the same size as an Eastern King. This is a good way to have a versatile guest room (use 2 twins separately or push together to make a king bed for couples). An Eastern King bed comes with one mattress and two half-width boxsprings to be more manageable when moving. Approx. width per person: 38" Learn More Twin XL, or extra long, is the most common mattress size found in college dorms. The additional 5" in length (compared to a twin sized mattress) accommodates taller sleepers. Twin XL mattresses fit comfortably in smaller rooms because they take up minimal space.

California King is 12" wider than a Queen bed but adds 4" in length. This may be a better choice for taller adults. This size is sometimes known as the "Western King". Bedding may be labeled either "California King" or "Western King". A California King bed set comes with one mattress and two half-width boxsprings to be more manageable when moving. Approx. width per person: 36" Learn More There are so many ways to stay supported, and the right foundation is the best way to keep your mattress in great shape for years to come. The foundation is the ying to the mattress’s yang. They just work better together. Find the foundation that best matches your mattress and your space needs. The standard profile box is the most common height for a foundation. 4 1/2" x 5 1/2"Approx. width per person: 36" Foundation consisting of two different boxsprings. Can be standard or low profile height. All king−size mattresses require split boxsprings for easier maneuverability.

In these cases, two twin boxsprings are used. If you are moving a queen−sized mattress into a small living space, you may also require a split foundation ("custom queen").Must have center support in King and Queen sizes.Lowers height of mattress so as not to cover a low−sitting headboard. Also makes it easier to get in and out of the bed. THE IMPORTANCE OF THE FOUNDATION/BOXSPRING It is strongly recommended that you purchase a boxspring/foundation that is specially designed to match your new mattress. A mattress and foundation are engineered to work together as a set, and the foundation takes a lot of the nightly wear and tear, and contributes to the bed's overall comfort and support. Putting a new mattress on an old foundation, pairing it with a foundation it wasn't designed to work with, or adding a board between the mattress and foundation will impede comfort and reduce the useful life of your new mattress. It may also affect the manufacturer's warranty. WHEN YOU MIGHT NEED A SPLIT BOXSPRING

Split boxes are foundations made up of two (2) separate boxsprings placed side-by-side, and are especially for delivery to places where a normal whole boxspring will not fit, such as through tight doorways, staircase or around narrow corners. All King size mattresses use Split boxsprings. Queen size boxsprings are available in two (2) types: Whole and Split boxsprings. Split Queen boxsprings are two 30 inch X 80 inch boxes that equal the size of one (1) whole Queen. If you think you will require a Split boxspring, you should make sure to order your Queen mattress with a Split boxspring. This can be found in the size selection under (Split Queen Set) or (Custom Queen). Only order split boxes if necessary, since they cost more than a 1 piece box. ADJUST YOUR WAY TO COMFORT Whether you're watching a movie or responding to work e-mails, and adjustable base transforms your mattress so you can work, relax and play. If sinus pressure, back pain or a snoring partner is keeping you awake, simply adjust your bed with the wireless remote control.

Based on your preference, you can raise or lower the base for premium lumbar support, or relax even deeper with a massage feature for your head and lower body. IF YOU HAVE A PLATFORM BED... Platform beds are a very popular style of bed today. They are frames, typically with a solid platform or wooden slats across it for the mattress to rest on. They are relatively low to the ground, and do not require a boxspring/foundation. Because of the popularity of platform beds, more people are making mattress-only purchases than ever before. If you scour the internet for a few hours looking for bed bug treatment options, you’re guaranteed to find about as many treatment options as there are bed bugs in the world! Many of these bed bug treatment strategies are just scams and don’t work at all.  In fact, some can even spread the bed bugs out more! With that said, how do you know what bed bug treatment options really work, and which don’t? That’s exactly why we created this website, to help you choose the best treatment solution for your needs and budget.

We’ve spent numerous hours researching the various treatment options and sorting through which ones work, and which don’t. Each bed bug treatment strategy has its own sets of pros and cons.  One of the most important aspects of treating a bed bug infestation, and one that we cannot express enough is: >>> Don’t use just one form of bed bug treatment.  Use multiple treatment techniques! The most effective and painless way (well, as painless as it gets) to treat bed bugs is to hire a professional bed bug exterminator.   These are companies that specialize in killing bed bugs.  If you pick the right exterminator, they’ll have the equipment, resources and knowledge to rid your home of bed bugs as quickly as possible.Professional bed bug exterminators can be expensive.  Don’t misunderstand us, they are worth the money spent, but the fact is many people that have bed bugs just can’t afford a professional exterminator. The good news is with the growth of bed bug infestations worldwide, and especially in the United States, more and more pest control companies are purchasing the necessary equipment to exterminate bed bugs and additionally have staff that are highly experienced in dealing with them.

This drives costs down. In other words, bed bug treatment costs, using professional exterminators, are lower than they were a few years ago. We would highly recommend getting a few price quotes from local exterminators first, just to see if the cost is within your budget.  If not, than you can begin to explore some of the do it yourself treatment options we discuss in great detail below. >>> Get Free Bed Bug Exterminator Price Quotes using our Comparison Tool <<< Before we jump into the various recommended treatment options, we want to help you verify that you actually have bed bugs, as there are lots of misconceptions about them and what they look like.   Our bed bug detection page goes into great detail on this, but here’s how to confirm you have bed bugs: Again be sure and visit our bed bug detection page for more detailed information.  Once you’ve confirmed you actually in fact have bed bugs, it’s time to start looking at treatment options, and determining the one that’s best for your situation.

The most success occurs when multiple treatment methods are used at one time.  Where one bed bug treatment method may not work 100%, the other methods will pick up the remaining percentage. Bed bugs are resilient, and some may not be effected by just one treatment option, but might die from others.  This is particularly true of treatment options that only recommend using . Bed bugs are quickly becoming immune to more common bed bug sprays and associated chemicals.  This immunity is one reason experts think there has been a large resurgence in bed bug infestations over the past 10 years.  Additionally, some sprays can be dangerous to pets and children.  As a result, when pets or children are in the house, other treatment methods such as Diatomaceous Earth and Steaming are far more effective and safer options. Before we jump into the details of treatment options, the single most effective option for treating and killing bed bugs is to use a professional exterminator and more specifically, one that uses heat treatment.

But, while highly effective, using a professional is also very costly and often beyond the financial means of the average person.  Given the high cost, we recommend trying to treat the issue yourself first, as the treatment strategies generally very well work if done correctly, and can save you some significant cash. On average, the cost of a one time treatment of bed bugs from a professional exterminator is around $1500.00 !  Don’t forget too, that completely removing your bed bug infestation often requires multiple treatments. Here are the primary and most effective bed bug treatment options currently available: Various manufacturers make and sell .  Some, like work really well, others like Raid don’t. Many of these sprays contain the same products and pesticides used by professional exterminators, just in less concentrated solutions.  When you buy a reputable and proven product,  the product will come with a full set of treatment instructions. Effective use of these spray products requires that you follow the instructions exactly.

Failure to do so, can result in just spreading the bugs further into your home as they run away from the chemicals.  Also, regardless of what anyone tells you, never…never use a fogger or “bug bomb”.  They don’t work, and will in fact escalate the problem and cause the bugs the infest additional areas of your home. Effective bed bug treatment often requires more than one treatment.  In fact treating bed bugs often involves multiple use of sprays and pesticides.  This holds true for professional exterminators as well.  Read more about bed bug sprays here.  You can also see our top picks for most effective sprays. While highly effective, sprays can be dangerous, especially if not used correctly or when children or pets are involved.   If you have children or pets in your home, we would recommend using different treatment options, or trying one of the natural spray options. Heat is a very effective bed bug treatment option as bed bugs don’t live long in temperatures over 120 degrees.

of anything beyond your luggage or clothing is difficult unless you use one of the which are ideal for beds, dressers, couches, and mattresses. Heat bed bug treatment for clothing and luggage also works great though to insure that you aren’t bringing bed bugs into your home after traveling. These heating products can be effectively used to minimize bed bug introduction into your home and used as a highly effective treatment option.  Heat has proven to be the single most effective solution available right now. Vacuums will not resolve your bed bug problem, but they are an effective strategy when combined with other treatment methods, especially if you can physically see the bed bugs.  You can certainly use a regular vacuum, but you run the risk on infecting it and the rest your home.  If you do use your own vacuum, be sure to immediately remove the vacuum bag and place it into a sealed plastic bag. Various manufacturers make bed bug vacuums that are specifically designed to deal with bed bugs.

An important note about these vacuums is that they are highly effective against bugs that you can see, they are not effective at removing the bugs you can’t see or for removing bed bug eggs.  Bed bug eggs are sticky, and can often get trapped in the vacuum cleaner or not picked up at all.  A really effective and highly rated bed bug vacuum is the Atrix VACEXP-IPM Express Plus Hepa IPM Vacuum. We recommend using vacuums only for live bugs, excrement or left over body shells.  Sprays and bed bug steamers are far more effective at killing eggs. Most professionals use a combination of steam, heat, and pesticide when treating bed bugs.  But steam alone can also be very effective and has the benefit of being environmentally friendly as well. Similar to heat, a bed bug steamer works by killing bed bugs and their eggs through excessive heat.  Steam has the additional advantage of penetrating cloth surfaces and can be used on larger items such as furniture, mattresses and box springs without the danger of fire.
