THE COMMODORES TO HEADLINE HALFTIME SHOW & PERFORM AT PRESIDENT'S GALA!Mob CustomsFirst off, I am moving across ... First off, I am moving across the country in less than a week, and I am doing this trek in my 01 325i BMW with one other person. I have only my stock HU and I have the Harmon Kardon system which I plan on utilizing and I need to work on my stereo system so the trip is less bland with only using CD's. Here is how it went down, purchased a USA SPEC: PA12-BMW iPod/iPhone integration kit online (from Pacific Stereo [fantastic to work with]) and I had held onto my 2ch amp and 10in kicker sub in a ported box from my pervious car. The kit arrives on Monday and at 2pm I roll to City Car Radio (based off of the reviews of you guys) looking to have my iPod kit and amp/sub installed, that day! (was not expecting them to, just hoped) Talk to the owner Boj, very nice guy. Then he introduces me to this guy Darren (who was incredibly nice), who as it turns out was in on his day off. Darren and I discuss placement options of the iPod cable and go through the work order.

I let him know my travel plans and why I need this done asap (I honestly have no other time to get my audio work done this week, I am currently writing this while my car is at another shop getting my radiator fixed...) This is around 2:30, concerned that my car might have to stay over night, I ask them when they close--6:00pm--he tells me not to worry that they can stay late to finish the job! (5 star service right there) Spend the day on Las Vegas blvd, and my phone dies, I walk to the shop at 6:30 and they were just starting the car, (30 min after they close, so awesome of them) they tell me it will be finished at 8pm. Meet up with a friend for drinks and decide to call em at 7:45 to see if we should wait to eat and just pick the car up. They answer the phone (they have technically been closed for almost 2 hours) and tell me to come by in 20 min. Long story short, Darren (on his day off) and some over guy, I think his name is Jorge, did an AMAZING job with the wiring of the iPod kit and they even played around with it, showing me how to use it.

These guys work in the service industry and man do they understand customer relations. I hope to find a shop out in NC that is as sweet as this one. The price was a little higher than I had hoped for (but competitive non-the-less) and as they had stayed really late to do the job i cant complain. They had to wire the amp into my rear speakers since the stock HU does not have rca so that added to the additional cost. Now I just need to work on damping my trunk... rattle rattle. Mob Customs So your looking for a plac... So your looking for a place that will install your sound system clean, precise and flawlessly? look no further than Mob Customs Las Vegas Talk to Boj or Mike when you come into this place, in my opinion, Mob Customs is the most knowledgeable staff. After giving these guys a hard time about something that was completely my fault, they still had the patience to work with me and honor the famous saying which has been around for years: "The customer is always right" I unfortunately managed to get on Boj' (who is really a nice guy) bad side when I insisted my navigation system was out of wack.

In reality, I was the one who was out of wack. Nonetheless, he kept his cool with me and worked all the way through until I realized nothing was wrong. I ended up leaving the place with a custom wood bracket for my GPS tray for a very reasonable price. Also, Boj, the shop owner, is one hell of a guy who will cater to your every need and whim. Not only did he stand behind me 100 percent when I was facing my navigation issue, but he also made sure I was happy before I left. Having gone there in late 2010 to have a Pioneer double din installed, I remembered why this shop was so fabulous. Being that this particular 7" in dash screen had no pre made drop in kit, I had them cut a metra kit for me and then wrap it in a carbon fiber like material. I was extremely pleased with the cosmetic outcome of the dash kit, it looked a lot better than what I had expected. Just goes to show, if you can think it, they can do it. Also, they installed my flea market crap amp (which I supplied) along with my 5 year old Orion XTR 12" and to my surprise, made it sound like a dream.

Go see these guys and you will not be disappointed. Six months after I bought my truck, I was behind a snow plow that threw off a rock and chipped my windshield. I had to catch a flight out that week and didn’t have time to do anything about it. When I got back from my trip the whole windshield had cracked along the lower ¼ of the windshield. I drove like that for two years. I was too scared to call my insurance company about it. Don’t get me wrong it was very annoying having that crack there. It felt like I was only looking out of half of the windshield. When the sun would hit it at certain times of the day it would actually reflect light into my eyes. One day I had enough, and I got it replaced. I am always afraid to involve my insurance company for fear of raised rates. If you are reading this, I suspect you are facing a similar situation and are looking for some answers. That’s right, the way windshields are made today and installed, they are part of the structural integrity of your vehicle. In the event of an accident or even a rollover, even just a single rock chip or “star” could put your life in danger should you get into an accident.

Not to mention the fact that it is designed to keep you inside the vehicle in a crash. Nearly 30% of traffic fatalities happen when a driver is ejected from the vehicle. Will my car pass inspection with a broken of cracked windshield? If your state like Maryland Texas Virginia and others, requires inspections to get vehicle tags, the answer is no it will not pass. You will have to get your windshield replaced if it is damaged and you need to register your car or re- inspect it. Buyer beware of cheap windshield replacement Windshields can cost anywhere from $400-$600 dollars for a quality replacement. So naturally many car owners default to the lowest-price option. An incorrectly installed windshield could pop out in an accident, allowing the roof to cave in and crush the car’s occupants. Furthermore, when the front airbags deploy, they exert a tremendous force on the windshield and will blow out one that is not firmly glued in place. According to Debra Levy, president of the Auto Glass Safety Council (which offers certification for installers) using original manufacturer’s glass is a plus, but choosing a good installer is even more important.

and type your ZIP code into the box at the top of the page. The National Glass Association also offers a feature to find certified installers. Certification is valuable because it keeps installers up to date on advances in adhesives and changing automotive designs. Beware of “Tailgaiters” offering cheap windshield replacements The Auto glass industry has a term for fly by night low cost windshield repair companies: tailgaters. These installers get their name because the do not have a brick-and-mortar shop and simply show up with a van or a pick up truck at your location. The problem is many of these installers quickly “slam” windshields into cars with little regard for safety. These guys are known to not handle the windshield correctly, or use the proper adhesives and leave the car unsafe for driving and prone to rusting and leaks. The windshield is a layer of protection that keeps you inside the car and things out of the car. This is not the place to cut corners on and go with the cheapest price.

ABC News ‘ 20/20 did a feature on windshield safety where they showed technicians incorrectly installing windshields who not wearing gloves. The grease from their hands prevents the adhesives from bonding correctly. Another error that 20/20 caught was technicians failing to use all the necessary bonding agents, such as primer. When you are looking for a good windshield installer, we recommend calling three shops and asking a few qualifying questions beyond just price and certification. The things you should ask are: Do I need to go to a dealership to get my windshield replaced? Most dealerships subcontract the job to a glass shop and then mark up the price about 30 percent. Going directly to the glass shop to save money. However, when a car is new, the dealership might be the only place to stock the glass. Some auto body repair shops also have their own glass division such as ABRA Auto Body and Glass which is a national chain. They also have an online replacement estimating tool which can be found here> Abra Auto Body and Glass’s online windshield estimating tool.

Most windshield installation jobs take only about an hour and can be done at your home or office. Once the installer is finished, check for signs that the job was completed correctly. Things to look for include making sure the molding is straight and that there is no sign of adhesives visible inside the car. The car should be clean inside. Debris or dirt left in your car could be the sign of sloppy workmanship. Can a windshield simply be repaired and not replaced? In some cases, a rock chip or star in the windshield can be repaired, saving you the cost of a new windshield. Some installers claim that cracks can be repaired even if they’re up to 15 inches long, but only if they intersect just one edge of the windshield. Rock chips are easier to repair when the damage has just occurred. Over time, rain washes dirt into the crack, making it harder to seal.  That is what happened to my truck windshield. Glass repair companies can sometimes  injects polymer into rock chips and cracks.

After the polymer cures, the area is smoothed out so it doesn’t affect the travel of the windshield wipers. If a glass company can repair your windshield chip within a week of the damage, they can almost always make it disappear They price range for rock chip repair vary, but are generally $29.95 for onsite repair work and $19.95 if you go to the auto glass repair shop. You can buy kits from your local AutoZone or similar auto parts store, but the pros have better equipment and much more experience so you will probably get a better repair. Is the windshield replacement covered by my car insurance policy? Sometimes windshield replacement is covered under you comprehensive coverage, not your collision coverage even though technically it is the result of a collision from a rock or debris (as was the case with my truck).  I have State Farm and I have a glass policy. When I got my windshield replaced it did not cost me a dime. Also my insurance rates did not go up either which was my concern.
