Depending upon the severity and condition of the crack or pit, we drill the damaged area.
Using a drill bit that is slightly larger than a needle with a diamond-like surface, we will create a channel for our polymer (or curing agent) to penetrate the pit. After a channel has been created, we attach a suction system over the pit, adjusted to the exact convex and angle of your windshield. Under high pressure, air that may have penetrated the glass itself is now extracted from the pit. While still under high pressure, with the pit now free of air or air bubbles, we carefully inject the pit or crack with a polymer. The pit or crack will remain under pressure for 5-15 minutes, depending upon the severity of damage. Once the damaged area is fully injected, the suction system is detached and the pit is immediately capped and cured with ultraviolet radiation and heat (the sun works nicely, though we are able to cure the spot with a high powered UV lamp when sun is not available). When cured, the polymer closely resembles the consistency of glass. Using a razor blade, excess polymer is scraped from the pit, leveling the repaired area to that of the windshield.
