Vanderhoof, BC V0J 3A0 171 Columbia St E Local Causes We SupportPolice are investigating after a brawl involving at least ten people broke out in front of a local nightclub Friday night. Officers who attended the scene learned that an argument turned violent between two individuals. The altercation moved from inside the bar to the outside where one of the two was stabbed with broken glass. One individual was arrested on scene but has not been identified by police. The victim was transported to hospital for treatment. Police say the investigation is in its early stages, and would not confirm the drinking establishment where the stabbing occured. Cpl. Dave Tyreman said identifying the business risks "re-victimizing" the staff and patrons. However, the Mirror spoke with a witness who confirmed it occurred at the LoneStar Nightclub, which opened in 2015.

Home of the $9 chip repair Automotive, residential and commercial glass Meet Sheila & Chester Mortensen Sheila and Chester Mortensen have seen a lot of changes in the more than four decades since they first moved to Williams Lake. They raised their four kids here and now have eight grandchildren. They’ve owned two glass shops, and their second one, Lake City Glass, has been in the community since 1986. It hasn’t been easy, but Sheila and Chester credit their faithful customers for keeping them in business for so long.

In fact, some of their customers today are the grandchildren of some of their early Williams Lake customers. They’re passionate about serving the people of Williams Lake, so much so that their 24-hour emergency hotline is staffed by none other than Sheila herself, because offering personal service (even if you call at 3:00 am) is important to her. They always do whatever they can to serve their customers, and Sheila jokes that if they don’t have what someone needs, “we will beg, borrow or steal to get it for them!” Before moving to Williams Lake in 1972, the Mortensens lived in the Lower Mainland. Chester took his glass training and got his journeyman certificate while Sheila worked in dietary in Langley hospital. But the traffic, stress and hustle and bustle got to them, and Chester, who was a cowboy at heart, decided to look to the interior for business opportunities. They chose Williams Lake because there was a need for a glass service here, and because it had everything you could possibly need, plus great weather and lots of recreational pursuits.

The Mortensens have never had the desire to live anywhere else. They love the outdoors and, particularly enjoy spending time on their 34-foot Double Eagle fishing out of Bella Coola. Of course, they also spend as much time as possible with their grandkids. Lake City Glass is “more than just a glass shop.” Besides being Williams Lake’s ICBC GlassExpress shop and handling your entire glass claim from start to finish, Lake City Glass is also fully equipped to handle all of your residential and commercial glass needs, including windows, doors and overhead doors, railings, security roll shutters and gates, deck covers, solariums, mirrors and mirror closet doors.
