"As one of the morale committee chairs, it's my job to organize and hold school-wide social events to boost morale and break up the monotony of classes, labs, and clinic. From holiday parties to social events, we try to hold events that are a quick, fun break for everyone." Q: Why is ASDA important to you? "I enjoy being part of such an extensive, well organized club on campus that has so many aspects. From community service, to advocacy, to holiday parties, there really is something for everyone. I have gained so much from this organization and look forward to my future years of ASDA involvement." "As VP, I help to carry out the initiatives that we laid out for the year. Specifically, I’m responsible for overseeing marketing and media, increasing member recognition and bolstering our chapter presence on the local, district and national levels.
ASDA is important to me because it’s all about the people. Everything that we do is for our members: to fill an educational need, to help members better connect with one another, or to increase awareness on important issues. It's time to get to know a little more about your lovely and inspiring ASDA leaders :) This week's ASDA Leader of the Week is our Chapter President Tim Yu! A: So much of my dental school experience has revolved around ASDA. From the first day of dental school, I was blown away by the number of students at UCLA that was involved in our ASDA chapter. Since then, I grew more interested in all of the other avenues that organized dentistry had to offer- advocacy through legislation action, leadership growth, and a network of thousands of peers in our profession.
As the current President of UCLA ASDA, I am committed to making sure other students have as great of on experience as I did. We're starting the year with an exciting event, the ASDA VENDOR FAIR, on Wednesday, January 11th from 5-8 pm at the Ackerman Grand Ballroom! Come and see the newest and coolest dental products and meet many vendors in the dental marketplace. It is also a perfect time for you to stock up on your sample toothpastes, toothbrushes, etc. to use for the rest of the year! Don’t forget that there will be also free food and AWESOME RAFFLE PRIZES at the end! GRAND PRIZE will be given for D1-D3 and one for residents/D4. ur D1 recipient was hard to choose since there were multiple solid contenders, but we decided on JOSEPH MULLEN'S wax up of an upper molar. His occlusal grooves and ridges are detailed, rugged, and realistic. For our D2 recipient, we selected ANTHO...NY LE'S prep of a natural human lower molar. Like a textbook example from the lecture slides, his prep is conservative, refined, and smooth-flowing. One of our little christmas elves will be seeking both of you out in person sometime this week to deliver your gifts! Last of all, as we conclude the quarter, we'd like to give one last, big thanks to everyone who's submitted entries or sent in suggestions; your participation and dedication mean a great deal to us.
