Have you ever heard of Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning? It is something that is not so new and just not that well known. The term Artificial Intelligence is a somewhat technical one and that is because the definition for Artificial Intelligence is very broad and has many sub-categories. Artificial Intelligence can take the form of technology or machinery and is therefore sometimes referred to as a Cyborg concept.

Machine Learning can be defined as the ability to infer and process information from large data sets without being explicitly programmed in. There are three methods of Artificial Intelligence: Inferential, Strategic and Reflective. These are relatively straightforward and can all be seen to be deeply embedded within the science of machine learning.

The first method of learning relates to inference and the second to strategies and the third to reflection. Intelligence can be understood as an inference capability, but the intelligence is based on human cognition rather than software. This type of intelligence is much more conservative in its approach.

Intelligent Machines are usually referred to as General Intelligence. They are not conscious creatures and their intelligence comes from a combination of software, hardware and one's mind. Intelligent Machines are sometimes referred to as Multilayered Software. These intelligent machines are highly adaptable and intelligent because they have a software that adapts to its environment and does not evolve in reaction to external circumstances. Machine Learning applies this concept and operates in three layers. The first layer is called Recurrent Neural Networks and they apply a technique that is similar to the Turing Machine. The next layer of Machine Learning is known as Complex Neural Networks. The Recurrent Neural Networks receives data from the input and uses that data to construct representations of the data that relate to the internal knowledge. The next layer is where the next level of the artificial intelligence comes in.

The Reflective Learning method is where a 'model' of the training data is built from what is learned through the process of deduction. An example would be if one were to train a robot with a large set of examples and have the robot reproduce as closely as possible what it has learned from the set of examples then it would be using a reflective learning strategy.

Artificial intelligence and machine learning can be applied to humans too. For example, if one was to model a cell to analyze one's DNA based on the variations in one's genome then the output would be very similar to what the body would need to be healthy and survive. Some are wondering if all this will lead to Synthetic Biology. Synthetic Biology can be a wonderful thing and we should encourage research and development to make that possible. We need to support education to encourage people to pursue Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning in various fields.

It is important to remember that there is a lot of speculation when it comes to Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning and the future is uncertain. It is an exciting area and should not be dismissed just because some of the ideas are not clear.

Artificial intelligence has the potential to greatly improve the lives of mankind, but it also has the potential to cause a lot of damage if it is not controlled or harnessed properly. All systems can be exploited and there are many ways that systems will be exploited. AI is already being put to good use in medicine, where advanced computers are now helping surgeons and nurses to fix accidents and injuries more accurately. Although the use of this technology has been widely reported, most people are still unaware of what real-world applications have been developed. With all the wealth of knowledge available, the possibilities of human ingenuity are almost limitless. Even the most successful enterprises can fall victim to the quandary of information overload, and it is possible that artificial intelligence systems could actually save lives. To collaborative AI a first approximation, the applications of artificial intelligence are extensive.

One of the applications of artificial intelligence is in robotics. Robots will continue to evolve in order to complete increasingly difficult tasks. For example, some robots may learn how to better protect themselves from obstacles in their path while the majority of robots will simply work around their environment and perform basic functions. However, as technology advances, humans and machines alike will continue to explore and use artificial intelligence to make both easier and more complex tasks possible.

Another application of artificial intelligence is in the field of astronomy. Astronomers use an instrument called the Hubble Space Telescope to search for objects that are beyond our view of the universe. As astronomical observations become more precise, the human eye can only go so far, and there is no real substitute for the Hubble Telescope in astrophysics.

While we may never know the exact applications of artificial intelligent machines and the role of machine learning, we certainly have a better understanding of the things that we can do with them. It is difficult to believe that human ingenuity and knowledge are limited to the capacities of our own two eyes. We may never be able to fully understand the ways in which artificial intelligence can improve our lives, but we can definitely take steps towards that end.
