Political confrontation between Eliška Přemyslovna (Elizabeth of Bohemia) and Czech nobility: the John of Luxembourg's position.

Y. Senych (Uzhhorod)

The article covers political activity of the Czech Royal House's member Elishka Prshemyslovna (Eliška Přemyslovna/Elizabeth of Bohemia), wife of John of Luxembourg (John of Bohemia). The circumstances under which she has been trying to defend and strengthen the royal power against the Czech nobility at the beginning of her husband's rule have been studied. The Domažlice treaty has shown that John of Luxembourg has declined his wife's political course and yielded to the Czech nobility's demands. When the treaty was signed, the queen was defeated and lost her popularity, while Czech nobles, led by Henry Lipsky (Jindřich of Lipá) managed to defend their own interests.
