Let's improve facial recognition on smartphones!
Project Overview
Do you want to work with a leading technology company to help improve quality and capabilities of the smartphone camera? This project will collect data for the purposes of device training to better understand facial recognition as people age.
If you are currently aged between 18-33 years OR have a child currently aged between 8-17 years and don’t mind sharing some old photos that will help better understand how faces change with age, then this project is perfect for you!
Task Requirements
This project is only available on our Appen ADAP app and you will need to create an account using the link below.
Please ensure that when you register you provide us your connect PIN and your registered email address to ensure we pay you.
Images: You'll be required to submit a minimum of 25 photos of the subject aged 0-10 years with a minimum of 2 photos per year.
Video: You will also be required to submit one newly created video of the designated subject performing basic actions.

We estimate an hour of your time to upload photos and submit your video
Payment
Payment will be made upon quality and assurance checks of each image and video submitted.

Improve video conference experience!
The chances are you have been using one of the video conferences tools to communicate during this pandemic. Appen has been tasked by a leading technology company to create a video dataset that will help them in developing better video conference experience.
In this project, participants will film themselves using laptop and smartphone cameras as if one is in a video conference call. The goal of these videos is to simulate real life scenarios of how people would make calls these days, e.g. having a call with pets moving around.
Recordings will need to be carried out with specific ambient settings/scenarios provided by Appen. A maximum of 8 videos will be done per participant, 4 on laptop and 4 on smartphone. Example of a scenario: "Having a call with your face/head looking somewhere else (other than the camera)"
As the project progresses over the next couple of months, we will remove completed scenarios and add new ones in; so we recommend you check back regularly to see if there are any you feel you could help us to complete!
The incentive you see on the right is for successfully completing all 8 videos (if you do less or less scenarios are available, we will pay proportionally), each video has a duration of 55 seconds maximum.

Project Overview
As part of the Appen community, you could be invited to help a leading technology giant take virtual reality products to the next level. Imagine VR technology that can enable users to be fully immersed in their interactive experiences that allow spectators to view actions being carried out by other players. Sounds interesting right!
Task Requirements
You'll need two individuals and a mobile phone to help with this one and that's it! A friend to take the recordings and you performing in them. You will be asked the release year of your smartphone, you can find it easily here.
4 videos to upload in our AMR App
We're currently looking for 4 simple videos in total where you will be performing basic actions in an outdoor environment. Just upload each video to the Appen Mobile Recorder via your mobile device and watch the rewards roll in!
Note: You will also have the opportunity to refer family members or friends over 65 years old who meet the requirement to participate in this project, please see guideline for details.
Duration
The project will take you 2-3 minutes in total as each video will be approx. 30 seconds in duration.
Payment
-Paid per video: This project will pay per video submitted, however we're ideally looking for all 4 from you! The pay rate shown is for each successful video. 4 videos = 2 minutes of recording = 4 times the payrate shown in Appen Connect
-End of year special BONUS: In addition we offer a completion bonus for everyone who did all 4 videos of this project successfully. The completion bonus is equivalent to 2 times the rate shown in Appen Connect.

HELP IMPROVE SMARTPHONE CAMERA TECHNOLOGY
Project Overview
We're looking for a number of individuals aged 18+ to take part in an important video collection that will help drive new advances in camera technology. If you have a smartphone and enjoy taking videos of yourself, this project may be just for you.
Expectations
You will be required to submit four (4) recordings that align with the project specifications through the Appen Mobile app. Each gesture will be 2-5 seconds in duration where you’ll need to ensure the gesture itself is performed in full within those five seconds.
Duration
Each video will take you no longer than 5 seconds to complete; that’s less than 30 seconds of your time that we need.
Payment
Payment for this project will be made upon submission and validation of each hand gesture recording which meet the quality standards.
