The project was completed in 2015 by designer Manon Bélanger. Once a fire station, the building was eventually converted to condos. This particular apartment hadn’t been renovated since the 1970s, but in Bélanger’s capable hands, it transformed into a thoroughly modern, masculine, and inviting space. The designer’s intention was to leverage the richness of the architecture and materials, while giving it a man-approved makeover. Dark and light are balanced throughout the loft. Dark wood ceiling beams, dark leather furniture, and exposed brick walls contribute a masculine air. White walls and a white finish on the wood floor, along with a steel spiral staircase replacing the old wooden staircase, ensure the dark colours never feel too heavy. Interesting details are placed throughout to give the apartment personality. The artfully stacked log feature and collection of animal antlers speak to the tastes of a rugged backwoodsman. On the other hand, the modern art in the living room, the minimalist kitchen and bathroom, and the book laden shelves of the small reading nook are the calling cards of an urbane city gent.

The room was full of bugs which are crawling on the furniture. The smells from the kitchen are coming to the hall. Tv was not working, bed linnen smelled like haven't been washed, uncomfortable and dirty bed . Reception desk stuff is very unpolite, exept one lady i havent seen a single smile from the others. They didn't want to change me the room, only offer was room without a window and airless with a noise coming from the ventilation system. There only good thing is a small pool at he rooftop but the water was so dirty so not possible to swim. I don't recommend this place, it's a dump. sometimes they took the old towels, but forgot to get me new towels. Sometimes the pool was clean and sometimes not. The rooms were not well kept up and a bit dingy. The maintenance was insufficient.눇The location was good, very easy to get taxis from there. The staff changed my room to a more quiet one when I requested it. Some of the staff were helpful, friendly and knowlegable. The price for the hotel was good. 눉Almost everything poorly maintained눇Everything was below good 눉Noisy눇Close to centre and old Panama 눉The room was generally aged and not properly cleaned (e.g. dirty mirrors, blanket with a pink stain). The lock and chain on the room door didn't feel safe enough. There was a liking (driping water) sound behind the window that was anoying. Via Espanja is generally a noisy street, I woke up when someone in the street was screeming during night time. There was no AC in the room, so I was sweating all the time. There was no blanket cover and the pillow looked like the pillowcase wasn't changed (or was simply cheap and aged).
The staff didn't instruct me on anything like breakfast times etc. (But that's probably because they disn't speak enough English). I bought coffee and beer in the restaurant but didn't risk anything else afer seeing how dirty the glasses were (they give free filtered water but I didn't drink it) but some people had dinner there. WiFi stoped working on the 1st day.눇WiFi worked well on the 2nd day. Good quality restaurants, a food shop and other stores are within a walking distance. Via Espanja is a busy street so I felt safe walking around by myself.
