My 9 year old twin boys have pubic hair
Hi, sorry if this has not been posted in the correct place.

I have 9 year old twin boy (non identical), this morning I noticed that one of the boy's had some pubic hair growing, I was really shocked and checked the other and he has to, I did try not to alarm them and asked how long they had been there, they said a little while, I feel so bas that I hadn't noticed before. Anyway they went to sschool and I have been googling puberty all day. From what I can work out early puberty is classed before 9.5 in boys and they are just under that. I decided to phone the doctors ( had to sit in the car as they would have been mortified if they had of heard me) the receptionist asked what the problem was as they always do before giving out appointments, I explained and she said her grandson is 8 and has pubic hair and that are developing earlier and said I didn't need to see anyone, felt like she was trying to get me off the phone. What I would like to know is there anyone else who's sons have started puberty this early. Thanks xx

It's not the receptionists job to decided if you need to be seen or not. If youre worried then see a doctor, you're their mum, you know best. If the receptionist ask what the appointment is regarding you have every right to say its private! Xx

The receptionist should not be asking what the problem is. It is none of her business and she is not qualified to make any judgement about it.

But 9 is not particularly early for boys to start showing signs of puberty.
If the receptionist asks and you don't want to say, just say it's a personal matter. As for the hair, I can remember getting some at that age. What can be done anyway if it is early puberty, I don't think it's anything to worry about, were you going to see the Doctor on your own, or with your boy's. Will put your mind at rest if you do go.

Adele puberty starts later in boys, so 9 for a girl is normal but early for a boy. Starting puberty can affect their growth. Not sure whether to take them as they would be mortified having to their bits. Thanks I will definitely say it's a personal matter, never thought og saying that before I also go into length what the problem is in case they won't give me an appointment xxx
I don't know who some of these receptionist think they are, I know they have a stressful job but honestly. Maybe just go on your on to the Doc's to start with, like you said a major cringe for them. I don't know what pubic hair my Son has, haven't seen his bits since about 6.

My son is was 10 in February and he has a lot of pubic hair down there and now growing under his arms! He also has spots coming and blackheads on his nose. Hes not shy about showing his bits and he showed me quite a few months ago, so maybe he was just under 10?
I started puberty young too, I was just gone 10 started my periods, and by then I was shaving under my arms and had a lot down there. By the time I started comp at almost 12, I was a 34c bra.

I'm expecting the same with my daughter who's 8 1/2
I started growing pubic hair at 8 so I don't think you should be concerned.

However, if you are concerned you have a right to see someone! I'd call back and if they ask, I'd say it's a confidential issue.
im not sure why you feel the need to see/speak to a doctor to be honest?its 100% normal for boys of this age to grow pubic hair?i cant see what the problem is?am I missing something?i think most doctor receptionists will ask for more details if you were wanting to be seen the same day.just to make sure your not time wasting....

Thanks for your reply Leanne, I was concerned because I didn't think it was normal. I haven't got an issue with the receptionist asking as I understand they need to know the problem so u can been seen by the correct doctor, but I will say it's private next time. I also have a 19 year old son and he didn't start puberty till a lot later maybe 13, this is why I was shocked x
