The Earth has been invaded by lizard-like beings from another planet called Visitors. A small resistance of rebels led by photojournalist Mike Donovan, Dr. Julie Parrish and mercenary Ham Tyler fight the Nazi-like reign. The aliens usually appear disguised as humans, and are led by Diana, their queen.
This series features the characters from the two mini-series about aliens coming to Earth claiming to be friends but in reality have an ulterior motive. The aliens may have been beaten in the mini-series but there are still a lot of them out there. In this series, Nathan Bates, the industrialist who manufactures the biological weapon that was used to defeat the aliens, wants to get his hands on the aliens' technology, so that he could profit from it, makes a deal with Diana, the alien leader. Rebel leaders, Mike Donovan, Ham Tyler, and Julie Parish know that Diana can't be trusted, so they are constantly trying to figure out what Diana is up to and stop her.
For the most part, the &quot;V&quot; mini-series was pretty good, and &quot;The Final Battle&quot; asn&#39;t bad either. Then there&#39;s...this. Well now, this is one really f#$@ed-up show. I mean, half the cast left throughout the season, the humans literally assaulted, and were able to walk through a mothership in several episodes (and had ample chances to blow the villains to high hell!) and you had people dying left and right, not to mention truly &quot;WTF&quot; moments like the main villain (the lizard woman) getting shot 11(!) times and still surviving, the inane way the red dust released in &quot;The Final Battle&quot; just stopped working in some areas, and the lame plots that were presented every week. Well, there is some value for watching it, if only to see Ham Tyler (the most arrogant and gung-ho fighter on the show) betray his friend in the first episode, then see him turn all fuzzy and mellow three episodes later, the foolish way the show ended (by having everyone be friends, but killing the two most important main characetrs!) and seeing a lizard character who acts with vague gay overtones. All in all though, the show sucks. Plain and simple.<br/><br/>Bottom Line: Go rent the original &quot;V&quot; series.
This series of V was very different to the Mini-Series and The Final Battle episodes. The original series was action packed but it was an allegory of the problems in Germany in the 40&#39;s when the Nazi&#39;s were stepping on people. The original series explored a lot of issues such as the fight between good and evil and the destructive nature of man.<br/><br/>This series did away with most of the above and instead concentrated on producing action, chases, explosions etc.<br/><br/>Old favourites such as Willie, Ham Tyler and Mike Donovan were back. And of course, the wicked Diana was back (looking beautiful than ever). Joining the show were the likes of Lydia who was a rival to Diana and the mysterious Charles. <br/><br/>The shows were very good producing loads of action. It was a good show if a little short-lived. Let&#39;s hope a follow up is done one day because the final episode did leave a lot of loose ends to be tied.
