In 1961, the UN sends an Irish peacekeeper troop commanded by Commandant Pat Quilan to Katanga, in Congo, to protect the inhabitants of the mining town of Jadotville in the beginning of a civil war. Meanwhile the UN advisor Dr. Conor Cruise O'Brien launches a military attack named Operation Morthor against the French and Belgian mercenaries. Soon there is a reprisal from the mercenaries and Quilana and his men are left under the siege of a huge Katangese and mercenary troops. Will the Irish soldiers resist to the attack?
While the script of this movie won't win any oscars, it's plot and action scenes should be highly regarded. This movie is what I would call a baby "Black Hawk Down." A good guys vs lots of bad guys type of movie. Great film!
I have only just watched this movie. However, it was very impressive. As a former member of a conspiracy, I can affirm that "they" do exist. Prior to hearing about "The Siege of Jadotville" last night, I had no knowledge of the history depicted in this movie. The lack of historical references intrigued me, and as a former conspirator, I enjoy finding new cover-ups. Also, coming from a former conspirator, such as I am, I'd say that, as far as cover-ups go, this cover-up was very successful. Conspiracy deniers who might dispute my statement, above, concerning the success of this cover-up, I would ask one question (maybe two questions, but, one question is sufficient for the point); "What really happened to Dag Hammarskjöld?" <br/><br/>There it is! This movie is well scripted, well acted, well directed, well produced, and it is well hidden! It is a continuation of the cover-up. Why do you suppose the USA will not release the records relating to Dag Hammarskjöld? Why is the UN general assembly expected to pass a resolution today, December 6, 2016, seeking to reaffirm its "responsibility to pursue the full truth concerning the conditions and circumstances resulting in the... of Dag Hammarskjöld and of the members of the party accompanying him"?
