A mercenary with a three-bladed sword rediscovers his royal heritage's dangerous future when he is recruited to help a princess foil the designs of a brutal tyrant and a powerful sorcerer in conquering a land.
With the help of an evil sorcerer by the name of "Xusia" (Richard Moll), the evil king of Aragon named "Cromwell" (Richard Lynch) finally defeats his nearest and most powerful rival named "King Richard" (Christopher Cary) of Ehdan. But Cromwell makes two mistakes in the process. First, he betrays Xusia but fails to kill him and in the process allows him to escape. The second mistake he makes is in not killing King Richard's adolescent son "Talon" (Lee Horsley) which also results in severe ramifications as well. To that end, both Xusia and Talon desperately want revenge—and nothing can prevent them from obtaining it. Now rather than reveal any more I will just say that this was a pretty good fantasy-action movie all things considered. Admittedly, it does require a bit of imagination and an earnest desire to overlook a couple of over-the-top scenarios which are only too obvious. It goes with the territory I suppose. That said, while this movie may not appeal to everyone, I enjoyed it and have rated it accordingly. Slightly above average.
At the end during the credits there is basically something that says there is going to be a sequel, but there never was one. Kind of surprising they didn't considering this made 39 million back in 1982 which was a good take to say the least for that time. Considering it was rated R and didn't have anyone really big in it...the only person I recognize in the cast is Richard Moll. In the end though they didn't, which is too bad. This one is a good, bloody, fantasy film. The story isn't the best, but it has good action and sword fights, though the director really likes to show scenes where swords break like glass. As a kid I had trouble following the plot though as it was a bit hard to distinguish the good and bad guys, but later when I saw it, it was easier though I still say it could use a better plot.
Hearts are ripped out, heads are smashed, and there's plenty of flesh to be seen. If that's what you crave for a night of retro viewing, this is your flick.
Because he only wanted revenge for his mother and fathers murder, also he wanted to be a free spirit and have many adventures which would not have been possible if he became the king and stayed in one place a5c7b9f00b
