In the middle of the night, while waiting for a bus in a bus station, a lonely stranger called Mr. Smith sees a pregnant woman being chased by a man with a gun. He follows the couple, kills the man and helps the delivery of the baby in the middle of a shootout while a gang of hit-man tries to shoot them up. The woman is killed but Smith saves the baby, escaping from Hertz, the leader of the killers. Then he meets the prostitute Donna Quintano, who has just lost her baby, and asks her to breastfeed the newborn. They are chased by Hertz and Smith discovers the reason why the bad guy wants to kill the baby.
A man named Mr. Smith delivers a woman's baby during a shootout, and is then called upon to protect the newborn from the army of gunmen.
'Shoot 'Em Up' is Bad-Ass! An action-packed fare, that works for the genre it adapts. I had fun!

'Shoot 'Em Up' Synopsis: A man named Mr. Smith delivers a woman's baby during a shootout, and is then called upon to protect the newborn from the army of gunmen.

'Shoot 'Em Up' is purely time-pass entertainment. Explosions, gun-fights, blood, gore, brutality...'Shoot 'Em Up' has it all. And that's precisely the reason why 'Shoot 'Em Up' works. It hits the bull's eye.

Michael Davis's Screenplay is no-holds-barred. Davis's Direction, on the other-hand, is stylish. Cinematography is good. Editing is fairly done. Action-Sequences are great.

Performance-Wise: Clive Owen is first-rate. Monica Bellucci looks gorgeous, as ever & delivers a convincing performance. Paul Giamatti is enjoyable as the villain.

On the whole, 'Shoot 'Em Up' is mad, wild & bombastic!
I went to see Shoot Em Up with very low expectations as I am not a Clive Owen fan and to be honest I was not expecting much but thankfully as many times before I have been proved completely wrong.

I left the cinema not knowing what the hell was going on - babies were being genetically modified to provide a cure for some sick senator with a side plot on gun laws in America. This all appears to be running along smoothly until Clive Owen finds himself in that old awkward gunfight/baby delivery situation and teams up with a lactating hooker to save the baby and bring down the bad guys. There ladies and gentlemen we have the plot.

As with all heroes they have a quirk and Smyth (Clive Owen) was no exception - he may not care how many baddies he kills in entertaining ways but he does care about healthy eyesight as carrots appear to be the only substance the man needs to survive and Shoot Em Up shows us that carrots can kill - literally.

One scene that sticks to mind is the carrot in the eye scene - which prompted the friend who usually falls asleep to say "I thought that they were supposed to be good for your eyes" which caused the biggest laugh in our cinema.

There were many many one liners and those that worked were funny but there were a few that were awkward and unfunny.

The violence was pure cartoon and exaggerated but it didn't matter as it remained like that from start to finish.

Overall I would give it 8/10.

Shoot Em Up is a loud, violent, unsubtle action movie - and it was great.
The whole thing feels like watching somebody else play a video game. Director Michael Davis obviously was more interested in crafting a series of gunfights than a coherent story arc.
