He's an amazing tennis player and is considered a prodigy. He moved from America to Japan and attends Seishun Academy Middle School or Seigaku as it is commonly referred to in the anime. The anime follows the matches between Seigaku and other middle schools such as Hyotei and Fudomine, and Seigaku's preparations for the matches.
I'm not really addicted to anime at first. One of my friends is SO addicted to "The Prince of Tennis" or PoT and every time we chat with each other, she always tell me how good it is though she never told me what it is about because I'm really uninterested. I can't believe I handled it for a year but there was one time that we were on our trip to our home, we were really bored and I finally asked her to tell me some of the best moments in PoT and that's what she did. I was really interested and asked if I can borrow her DVD so she let me.<br/><br/>After that, I watched it 5 days straight and repeated it again until I realized I've already watched it 4 times CONSECUTIVELY. I was really addicted to the anime to the point that I watched all of it's replays in TV. I watched all the OVAs, live action movies and the animated movies. After one year, I still can't get over it and watched it again.<br/><br/>Don't get me wrong, I DON'T play tennis but I loved the show so if you're a tennis-lover then you'll love it even more! Even the matches are interesting. The characters each have their own charisma and uniqueness and after a while, you will realize that you're already attached to this GREAT anime.<br/><br/>At first, you will think that this is just about with the tournaments,, matches and stuffs but actually, there is a twist in the end that is somewhat related to the past of Echizen. Friendship is also valued in PoT.<br/><br/>I rate PoT a 10 out of 10.
Well! I'm sure that all anime fans agree with me if I say that "Prince of tennis (tennis no oujisama)" is one of the coolest and wonderful anime all the time. Why? Just look at the story, it's good, fun, funny, make a lot of surprises, and cool. Even though the ending of this long anime series is not so good (I'm a bit disappointed when Ryoma decided not to go back to Japan and stay in U.S.) but the whole things is good. The story is about a young boy (Ryoma) fight to get what he wanted (surpass his father in tennis and to become a winner), and he had many friends (his school tennis team members) to accompanied him to fight for what he wants (nice story). I just wish they can make it longer, because I think that the story is not just finish like that.<br/><br/>All the songs (opening and ending) are good and the characters also singing too (wow). This anime is really famous until it has yaoi manga (in cased if someone want to know).
