However, the convoy is attacked by the Germans and they survive and flee with the intention of cross the border of Switzerland. Along their journey, they fight against a German platoon and capture the German prisoner Adolf Sachs that offers to guide them to the Swiss border. When they meet a German troop, they kill them but sooner they discover that they actually were and American commando in a mission headed by Colonel Buckner to steal a German V2 warhead. Lt. Yeager, Fred, Tony and Nick offer to risk their lives to accomplish the mission.
Set in Europe during WWII, a group of American soldiers are in the process of being shipped off to military prison for a variety of infractions, ranging from desertion to murder. While they're being transported, a German artillery attack hits the convoy, killing the MPs and enabling four of the prisoners to escape. The group decides their best bet is to head to neutral Switzerland where they can avoid the fighting and prison. As they make their way to what they think will be freedom, they end up volunteering for a commando mission to steal a V2 warhead for the French Underground. Somehow, the team must sneak into the most heavily guarded base in German territory, steal the Nazi's most precious military hardware, and bring it back to the allies without getting arrested again by their own side.
An entertaining action-war movie. I remember i bought this movie the in a video-store back in 1986-87. It was an old English video-version from the early 80's (from that time when video-stores in my country imported video-movies direct from England without giving them subtitles)<br/><br/>The movie have some similarity's with "The Dirty Dozen" and it's obvious that the film-makers got much inspiration from this great hit from the 60's. Acting and plot is not the greatest in history, but it's still a very exiting film. Not so much indifferent action-scenes here, like there are in many other movies of this type.<br/><br/>8 out of 10
It was a boring party. Pimpin stood on the sidelines. But there was always another bored extroverted guy/bored relative at these parties who wanted to penetrate your space.<br/><br/>Bored Relative: Hey Pimpin. Hows married life?<br/><br/>Pimpin: Hey, cant complain.<br/><br/>Bored Relative: Watched any new movie?<br/><br/>Pimpin: Yes, Inglorious Bastards.<br/><br/>Bored Relative: But that's an old film.<br/><br/>Pimpin: No this is the 1970s film. And not the Tarantino film.<br/><br/>Bored Relative: What? There is a 70s film by the same name? Stop bluffing!<br/><br/>Pimpin: Why would I bluff?<br/><br/>Bored Relative: You were always such a film snob. Tarantino remakes a 70s film and does not even change the name?<br/><br/>Pimpin: No you bitch! It is not even the same film. Stop pontificating about things you know nothing about.<br/><br/>Bored relative: Why the swearing? Why are you so hostile?<br/><br/>Pimpin: Because I hate you bitch!<br/><br/>Bored relative: OK. I wont bother you anymore.<br/><br/>Pimpin catches bored relative by his shirt sleeve and does not let him go.<br/><br/>Pimpin: I cannot let you go. You intruded into my space. Inglorious Bastards is a 70s film by some Italian guy. Tarantino simply ripped off the name of the movie. It is a film about a bunch of war prisoners/criminals/deserters who mistakenly enter a mission. It is an action film. Some of the action sequences were well done. It was alright. It has naked woman. And a black hero as well as a white hero. I'm sure Tarantino borrowed the tongue in cheek spirit of the film for his later works. The film wears its mediocrity on its sleeve. It does have some long shots of ravaged land. The acting and script are awful. I don't recommend it to you or anyone in this party.<br/><br/>Bored relative. OK.
