In Moscow, five young people lead the charge against an alien race who have attacked Earth via our power supply.
The American software designers Sean and Ben travel to Moscow to sell their software to investors. However, their Swedish partner Skyler pulls a fast one on Sean and Ben, and they are out of the business. They go to a nightclub, where they meet American Natalie and Australian Anne and they flirt with the girls and see Skyler in the club. Out of the blue, the population is surprised by lights, which they mistake for natural phenomena. But soon, they learn that the lights are aliens invading Earth and using power supply to annihilate mankind. Sean, Ben, Natalie, Anne and Skyler hide in the kitchen and when they leave the place, they seek out survivors on the street. Are they the last people on Earth?
A concept that could have been brilliant if handled better. I got excited at the idea, which sounded genuinely thrilling, but the execution was abysmal. Energy parasites come to Earth to steal our mineral resources and are cloaked in microwave fields that make them invisible to the eye. It's set in Russia, not that you'd tell, considering that the only Russian characters are in minor supporting roles and have a tendency to die quickly.

The major characters are two American software engineers who were in Russia on a business trip. While there they meet and band together with a Swede, and two girls (an Australian and another American). All of the non-American characters take it in turns to become hysterical and act in cowardly and irrational fashions, then die, whilst the American software engineers make heroic, motivational speeches and act with stoic clam. Somehow one of them comes to the conclusion that the aliens can see our bioelectric fields and thus cannot see through any object that doesn't conduct electricity. How a software designer knows anything about how a nerve functions is beyond me.

Exactly who is going to die and in which order is absolutely apparent from moment to moment and nothing takes you by surprise. The only interesting character is the ageing, reclusive, eclectic Russian scientist, who is dead within minutes. The young and attractive American couple live to the end, despite a series of the worst, most illogical and suicidally stupid decisions two people could possibly make.

This whole movie was a heavily disappointing waste of time. Made more so because the basic concept actually had real potential.
In this film two American internet entrepreneurs in Moscow team up with two tourists and the business partner who sold them out to survive an invasion by powerful aliens (who are supposedly invisible but are depicted as kind of glowing golden dust clouds) which arrive in the city and proceed to disintegrate any human they can get.

It's a fairly predictable alien invasion film with pretty wooden characters, and most fans of this genre of film will probably be easily able to tell who will live and who will die. It loses it's interest pretty quickly (even though it is a short film). It does have it's pluses though, the Moscow setting is interesting and the scenes of survivors walking through the desolate streets are pretty effective. Also some scenes are pretty exciting, it's just a pity that they are few and far between.
This is exactly the sort of film I wasn't expecting from either Gorak or his producers. In many too-obvious ways this is just a formulaic riff on Spielberg's "War of the Worlds."
