Four American soldiers who are in Iraq are sent on a mission to recover plates for printing 100 dollar bills that were used to print a billion dollars. After doing the job and returning to the base their commanding officer is killed in an explosion and the plates are stolen by another operative. They would be court martialed and sent to different prisons. 6 months later, the leader, Hannibal Smith is visited by a CIA spook who tells him he knows where the man who took the plates is and wants him and his men to recover it. So he helps him escape and he breaks out the others and they go after the plates. But after doing it, they discover that the spook might not be ok. And a military intelligence officer who was involved with one of them is pursuing them.
Meet Hannibal (Liam Neeson), Face (Bradley Cooper), B.A. (Quinton 'Rampage' Jackson), and Murdoch (Sharlto Copley). Together, they make the A-Team, a group of skilled army rangers with eighty successive missions under their belt. Stationed out in Iraq, they are approached by CIA agent Lynch (Patrick Wilson) who offers them a job involving stolen USD mint plates and a billion dollars in counterfeit money. The A-Team takes up the job, only to find that it's a setup. Court-martialed and sentenced to four individual prisons - one psychiatric ward, in Murdoch's case - the team is almost a distant memory. Six months later, Hannibal escapes prison and pulls together the team to take down the man who set them up and restore their names. With a demoted captain (Jessica Biel) on their tail - who happens to be Face's old flame - the team races to seize the plates again, only to discover that nothing is as it seems.
I thoroughly enjoyed this. Reviews for the film had been pretty sketchy with the consensus being that it was quite poor. So we went in with low expectations. If I could have one or two decent laughs and some solid gunfire, then I'd be happy.

Well for me, the film really hit the spot. I loved the camaraderie and bromance between the team. Although different characters, they all supported each other, this being picked up in the small things like Hannibal calling Bosco 'big man' or Hannibal and Face discussing previous jobs when they were in the diner. You got a real sense that they had history together. There was no sniping, just fondness for each other and their idiosyncrasies.

I really enjoyed how they set up each of the characters, how they came together and how they showed them pulling missions as a tight unit in Iraq. To include all of this, along with the 'crime they didn't commit', their escape and story resolution without repeating scenes within two hours made it a fabulous tour de force. I enjoyed the script and thought many of the characters had some good lines, even Pike and Lynch.

The makers were bold enough to dispense with the limiting factors such as the van or BA's attitude. They gave them a nod but understood that it was the tight cohesion of the team that was the central core/concept of the franchise as opposed to the excessive neck jewellery or Murdoch's zanier outbursts.

Neeson led the team well, Cooper just oozed sex appeal, Copley was great and even Rampage did a good job (and let's face it Mr T wasn't a great actor). The action scenes were fun, if a little over edited, and even the tank scene, which I thought from the trailer looked silly, worked. I think because of the frenzy inside the cab with all four characters speaking and them having this 'crazy' attitude, you just carried along with it.

On the downside I found the chop, chop lightning editing a little frustrating, especially as their set up, planning and execution of the missions looked so good and the ending (i.e. the dockyard) was a little poor but overall I thought it was great. I've recently seen both Predators and Inception and I'd certainly take watching the A-team again over the other two.

Personally I don't know what the critics problem is - It's an A-team film. Now I don't mean that excuses it from being lazy or poorly made, which it isn't. But what you don't expect then is some overly complicated techno thriller or a searing portrayal of over achievement in the constricting life of an army fugitive. What you want is light hearted fun, action, teamwork and ultimately entertainment. The A team delivers this aplenty.

I know the film had wallowed in development hell for some time, so bravo to Carnaghan for digging it up, sticking with it and giving it the resuscitative jolt it needed. If they were to put together a sequel (though I fear the critics might have dashed that), it could certainly count on my support.
Liam Neeson, Bradley Cooper, Quentin"Rampage" Jackson, and Sharlto Copely are The A team. The A team was a summer movie that underperformed. And it's a shame. It is actually a lot of fun.

Liam Neeson is Hannibal, the brains. Cooper is Faceman, the looks. Jackson is Mr. T's character, the muscle. Can't remember his name. And Copely is Murdock, the wildcard. After their general is murdered, they must prove that they didn't do it. With an agent(Jessica Biel), an old fling of Faceman's, on their track.

I never watched the show. But I enjoyed the movie. The casting choices are odd but well. I laughed at the many jokes provided. Though some of it was unfeasible the movie still worked. It shows that Summer action can't always disappoint. Like Salt.

There is another flaw that I found with it. I feel that a lot of the action takes up the story. And sometimes I couldn't follow it. But the movie is well acted and more well thought out then you'd expect, with twists and turns all over the place. I didn't see much of a problem with it. I think it's worth seeing 3/4
The A-Team is literally a blast, from the opening credits containing more thrills than the average shoot-'em-up (and more laughs than some comedies), to a climactic orgy of CGI destruction.
The A-Team is based on , a TV series that ran from 1983-1987. The storyline was adapted for the film by screenwriters Skip Woods, Michael Brandt, and Derek Haas. Dwight Schultz and Dirk Benedict both had a cameo appearance in a short scene after the closing credits. Mr. T does not make a cameo appearance. George Peppard passed away in 1994. If you're referring to the movie then it's called "House of Pain" by The Game. You can find the rest of the songs with their corresponding scenes here. The unrated extended cut provides many extensions to balance out the action/story ratio. F-bombs, removed from the theatrical version, have been re-integrated into the movie as well. In total, nearly 19 minutes of prolonged story sequences can be found in the extended cut. a5c7b9f00b
