The year is 2039. World wars have destroyed everything and territories are run by corporations, the mightiest -- and cruelest -- of which is Tekken. Jin Kazama (John Foo) witnesses the death of his mother Jun (Tomita) by Tekken in the slums known as Anvil. Vowing vengeance, and armed only with his street smarts and raw fighting skills, he enters a dangerous and potentially deadly combat tournament, where he must defeat the world's most elite fighters to become the "King of the Iron Fist."
Jin Kazama witnesses the death of his mother Jun by Tekken in the slums known as Anvil. After finding a Tekken ID he decides to seek out vengeance for his mother's death.
This is one of the worst movie based on a video game. It's basically based on a fighting game so had very low expectations for it but didn't know it would be this terrible. All the characters have different characteristics from the game, like completely. The story is nowhere close to following the video game story line. It's like "Tekken: Blood Vengeance" came out to atone for this movie. Which isn't a good CGI animated movie but stuck close to the Tekken universe. This one just about has nothing to do with it. Except the tournament and the corporation. The fighting style of each character is also completely different from the video game franchise this is based off of. Steve Fox is the only likable character in this movie. This movie is about an hour and a half long but it was just so darn painful to sit through because of how boring and lame everything is. At least the "Mortal Kombat" movie got some effort thrown into it and at least tried to follow the storyline of the game, but not this one. It just amazes me how this movie cost $30,000,000 to make. I guess it's to get the license because everything from the dialogue to the acting to the props and special effects look so very cheap. Because of the budget I was at least expecting something, not much but something but left disappointed. This movie is a abomination to the video game franchise this is based off of. Cary-Hiroyuki Tagawa was pretty good as Shang Tsung in the "Mortal Kombat" movie. But his look and acting is just unintentionally funny to watch and so awful.

1/10
Quite a fan of the Tekken series, but can't say I am of the film. A pretty big disappointment in a lot of places. Almost all of the characters we're nothing like they were in the games, and there's hardly any back story to them, only the main 3, Heihachi Kazuya and Jin. Nothing about Marshal Law, and tiny bits about Sergei Dragunov, Raven, Yoshimitsu, etc. all of which don't tie in with the games. And why did they have to replace classic characters like King and Paul Phoenix with Muigel? The upside to this was the fights, which i thought were brilliant, I always love a good martial arts fight, but if you're a fan of the series, thats all this film will be good for.

By 2039, much of the world has been destroyed by World Wars and civilization is on the brink. What's left are territories that are no longer run by governments, but by corporations, the mightiest of which is Tekken. In order to keep the masses subdued and entertained, Tekken sponsors an annual Iron Fist Tournament in which fighters from across the globe compete to the death for ultimate glory and a lifetime guarantee of wealth and fame. Jin Kazama is a street fighter who enters the tournament to avenge the death of his mother which he blames on Tekken's powerful chairman, Heihachi Mishama. The only way for him to get close enough to Mishama is if he wins the tournament, but he soon discovers that he needs more than just street fighting experiences to get him through the bloodbath. With the help of Lucas, an aging Iron Fist Champion and trainer, Jin makes his way through the levels of the tournament. In doing so, he also begins to uncover hidden bits of his own past, full of his own inner demons, as well as a revelation about the dark underbelly of Tekken that threatens the very existence of humanity. Tekken is based on an arcade game series of the same name by Namco Corp, a Japanese video game developer and publisher. The game series was adapted for the movie by screenwriters Michael Colleary, Alan B McElroy, and Mike Werb. No. Yes, he will carry the Devil Gene. However, it's rather realistic adaptation so there's no transformations. Some characters borrow very strongly from real life people, e.g., Marshall Law is based on Bruce Lee. Lei Wulong is based on Jackie Chan, Raven is based on Wesley Snipes, and Craig Marduk is based on Nathan Jones. a5c7b9f00b
