A group of bank robbers find their multi-million dollar plan interrupted by a hard-boiled detective.
A seasoned team of bank robbers, including Gordon Jennings (Idris Elba), John Rahway (Paul Walker), A.J. (Hayden Christensen), and brothers Jake (Michael Ealy) and Jesse (Chris Brown) Attica successfully complete their latest heist and lead a life of luxury while planning their next job. When Ghost (Tip T.I. Harris), a former member of their team, is released from prison he convinces the group to strike an armored car carrying $20 million. As the "takers" carefully plot their strategy and draw nearer to exacting the grand heist, a reckless police officer (Matt Dillon) inches closer to apprehending the criminals.
This movie is for married couples who are having sex and have the movie playing in the background. 3 things I noticed before I got so annoyed that I made this review. (I probably missed other things but could not care enough to notice) ........Chris Browns character does a burnout on his bike after they land the news chopper and blow it up. Then the detective played by Matt Dillon sees a bike later at the scene of TI&#39;s character, but never connects the dots. That burnout was fresh and tire tread would have been everywhere. Then when Dillon is pursuing Paul Walker and Idris Elba, he struggles to find a pen and dumps his daughter&#39;s bag out. WHY NOT TAKE A PICTURE WITH YOUR CELLPHONE. Dillon ends up swerving the car and finally catches Paul Walker&#39;s eye. Finally, when Walker thinks that a car is tailing him, he waits to see if the car was a cop. Elba asks stupidly if that was a cop and Walker says no, because the cop has a kid with him. BUT WALKER FAILS TO SEE THE EMERGENCY LIGHTS IN THE REAR WINDOW THAT were so prevalent one minute before this scene.<br/><br/>I hate movies like this. I still gave it a 4 because of entertainment value. I guess Ill just keep watching the Bourne Trilogy over and over instead of becoming dumber after watching movies like Takers.
If you like rap videos and man fashion than this is the movie for you. Zero substance, horrible acting, blatant scene ripoffs of movies like Heat and the Italian job and possibly a dozen other heist flicks. Just about everyone in the gang is all about the ripe old age of 25, yet somehow they&#39;re all experienced top level expert thieves. TI is the rapper...sorry, actor that gets them into the old - you all owe me this job so lets do this thing - big score. There&#39;s always a 20 or 50 million dollar heist right around the corner to settle up - how convenient! I know I&#39;d be concerned to run or at least look behind me for a roto blade that might be spinning toward me after I just blew up a helicopter - but walking slow and not looking is just what these d-bags specialize in - ultra hip coolness.<br/><br/>Could TI actually run from the police with his pants around his ankles? Is it a good idea to base your robbery plan on a helicopter getaway that isn&#39;t yours, but one that you expect to arrive on scene at the exact time you need to run? Is Hayden Christensen really that tough in his role that made him look like a teen boy prostitute/pusher? These are all questions to ask prior to seeing Tankers - I mean Takers.
Rapper, producer, and mogul Tip "T.I." Harris was recently named "global creative consultant" for Rémy Martin cognac. Coincidentally or not, he's also the star and producer of Takers, a heist thriller that feels suspiciously like a feature-length commercial for expensive liquor.
