An aunt gave me this book when I was around ten years old, and I read and re-read it into my teens; alongside chess, it was part of my introduction to logic, and has heavily influenced my methods of reasoning all the way into adulthood. Its probably the most memorable and pragmatic book of my youth.Its certainly great for anyone who enjoys puzzles and wacky novels involving non-Einsteinian algebra, though its really more a very accessible introductory handling of logic which wont terribly challenge the more mathematically astute reader. Smullyans approach to puzzles maintains interest and never becomes too tangential, so the most novice would-be logician shouldnt be overwhelmed. Rather, I found each new set of puzzles tantalizing, and could not have stopped reading and solving them. The novel at the end of the book, however, is perhaps best described as straight out of left-field mathematic psychedelia, which may or may not distract from the overall purpose of the book: to invite the reader to clear his mind and -think- about thinking.
