While I admire the sincerity of the writer, there are enough problems with this book that I cant think of anyone I would ever recommend it to.First Problem Group: The entire book reads like a rough draft. Redundancy is a big problem. It seems like the end of each chapter is about four pages of emoting that sounds very similar to the last four pages of the previous chapter. This in addition to general redundancy problems throughout the text. There are also plenty of typos that ANY editor would have caught, including cut off sentences. The flow is so random that sometimes I just had to read a bit out loud to see if it was as confusing and how on earth did we get here as I thought it was. And it always was. Second Problem Group: The writer has taken her reclamation of her menstrual cycle and turned it into a quasi-religion composed of elements of tribal Native American ceremonies and pagan stuff. I say stuff because she doesnt ever put any discernible purpose behind the rituals and ceremonies she lays out through the book. In other words, she gives very specific directions of what to DO, but absolutely nothing about WHY it should be done. So, her personal rituals dont make any sense and seem instead like she is trying way too hard to find meaning in her cycle. That for it to be meaningful, she has to make it elaborate, mystical, ecstatic, rather than allowing it to come quietly from within. Im guessing that the ceremonies she presents do have meaning for her, but she doesnt communicate it in the book at all.Mostly this book was off-putting and frustrating. I wanted to get a bunch of ideas but only ended up with a bunch of confusion, with nothing fully explained.
