http://urllio.com/qyjedFrank Darrbo is a hapless fry cook. When his wife Sarah falls off the wagon and dumps him for Jacques, a drug dealer, Frank tries to get her back by reporting her kidnapped, grabbing her from Jacques' car, and wailing for her to return. After watching Christian TV and having a vision, he becomes a superhero to fight evil. He sews a costume, finds a weapon (a pipe wrench) and looks for crimes to stop. He has problems: his wrench inflicts real injury, so the cops want him for being a vigilante, his sense of boundaries is flawed, and Jacques' gang has guns. Libby, a clerk at a comic book store, becomes his sidekick, and it's time to go save Sarah. What chance do they have?
After his wife falls under the influence of a drug dealer, an everyday guy transforms himself into Crimson Bolt, a superhero with the best intentions, but lacking in heroic skills.
I liked the premise of the movie, that basic idea from where it started. No teenage boy, no super-powers, just an average guy trying to become a super-hero. The circumstances however are kind of forced, don't you think?<br/><br/>The trailer was very good. Too good! Even if it wasn't as bad as Kick Ass, it didn't really made it all the way to that category of "soubstance films". That's a shame! To have a good idea for a script then, well...I thought the main character was very good and very well casted, and for the budget the movie had, it doesn't really look that bad. <br/><br/>And what was that last scene about: the guy after almost being killed for his wife turns: yeah, it's better she found someone else, and that she's happy; what the heck, I've got a rabbit?!<br/><br/>It's just stuff like this that brought it down...
SUPER<br/><br/>When I saw the cover of the DVD to this, the first thing I thought was "Oh great
a film that wishes it was Kick Ass"
and in a way I am right. What is it with Hollywood that when there is a successful film, everyone feels they should make a re-hash of it? But having said that, I did quite enjoy this.<br/><br/>The movie is about a guy named Frank who gets bullied a lot as a kid, grows up really insecure and not very confident. When his wife leaves him for a drug dealer it pushes him over the edge. He turns himself into a super hero with a homemade costume
named The Crimson Bolt. His mission: To rid crime and get his wife back. Whilst researching how to become a super hero he meets Libby. She is a complete nut job! She goes along with his plans and becomes Boltie
The Crimson Bolts loyal sidekick.<br/><br/>I thought this was going to be a silly comedy
but it is not like that at all. It is a comedy, but it is very dark. The comedy is very subtle in places. It is just not as funny as I was hoping it was going to be. There were not many laugh out loud moments.<br/><br/>Also, the film is very gory... I was not expecting the violence to be this high. There are some really brutal scenes where me and my wife were shocked at what we were seeing. I suppose though that it was not the gore that shocked us, more the fact that we were not expecting it. I suppose I should have watched the trailer first. Haha.<br/><br/>The acting was OK
a bit over the top in places but I think that was on purpose as it was the nature of the characters. The movie stars Rainn Wilson as Frank, Ellen Page as Libby, Liv Tyler, Kevin Bacon & Michael Rooker. I have seen Rainn in a couple of films, but this is the only film where he is the lead. He did a good job. I felt sorry for his character. Ellen is a great actress, she has already made some really good movies
She is especially good in Hard Candy. She does a great job here, although her character is the main one that I would consider over the top. But that was the characters personality. Liv Tyler does a good job as a junkie, Kevin Bacon is the drug dealer that Liv runs away with
he always does a good job. It was a nice surprise to see Michael Rooker in there too. I had not seen him anything for a long time.<br/><br/>The best part of the movie is the best part for me. I loved the way the ending finished. It was not predictable at all. I love movies that have a surprise ending that I didn't see coming, and this has that. It is well put together and surprising.<br/><br/>I will give this film 7 out of 10.<br/><br/>It was good, funny in places and very gory. Just not as funny as I was hoping it was going to be.<br/><br/>"All it takes to become a superhero is the choice to fight evil."<br/><br/>For more reviews, please like my Facebook page:<br/><br/>https://www.facebook.com/pages/Ordinary-Person-Movie- Reviews/456572047728204?ref=hl
This depraved charmer offers enough to admire and a specialized hipster crowd will enjoy it, if to a mutedly positive effect.
No, it is an original story by James Gunn. It is a cartoon specifically created for the movie. a5c7b9f00b
