When Lenny learns that Iris was sadistically raped and killed, he gets involved in a sick scheme and discovers dirty hidden secrets.

(spoilers)<br/><br/>The plot of Strange Days is not entirely unique, but other aspects of<br/><br/>this unusual film make up for it. Ralph Fiennes saves the movie. He's<br/><br/>perfect as Lenny Nero, a scummy yet somewhat charming dealer/addict of<br/><br/>the "drug" of the future. Every time he offered some one his fake Rolex<br/><br/>watch and got rejected/punched was amusing, especially when some one<br/><br/>puts the watch on his knuckles and asks, "Is this impact-resistant?" and<br/><br/>then hits him. Nonetheless, he makes a great anti-hero. However, it<br/><br/>is difficult for the audience to see why he's so hung up about his<br/><br/>lost-soul ex-girlfriend, Faith, played by Juliette Lewis. They had no<br/><br/>chemistry together, and she seemed too young for him. She whines,<br/><br/>moans, and is often portrayed as being somewhat cruel and insensitive to<br/><br/>Lenny. "Mase" played by Angela Bassett is a nice side-kick for Lenny;<br/><br/>she shows him that his life of "playback" memories is unhealthy. This<br/><br/>movie had a lot of potential, it's too bad it wasn't fully developed. <br/><br/>The ending does not fit the movie, and it appears that they had no idea<br/><br/>how to end the movie, so they used the "passionate, unexpected kiss"<br/><br/>between friends as a cop-out ending. This may have worked if Bassett<br/><br/>and Fiennes had more chemistry together. When it all comes down to it,<br/><br/>this is a movie about a few lost souls, but because the characters are<br/><br/>developed, you really care about these lost souls, and at times you just<br/><br/>want to give Lenny a big hug.
This movie didn't seem like what it was in the trailer... it was better than I could have expected. To start, Ralph Fiennes wouldn't have been my instant choice to play Lenny Nero but the actor's classy style made Lenny more real and likeable than in the script. Tom Sizemore gives a great performance as Max Peltier. But the female acting didn't get it's justice due to the thin way they were tossed into the script. They are as good (if not better) than the rest but I found their characters hard to sympathize with. Very realistic and dark, well written, well directed, GOOD LEAD! Great film 7/10
Due to the combination of violence and sex, approx. 11 seconds were removed from the British Version. No, there were only the two rogue cops, one of whom had killed Jeriko-One in a fit of anger after being goaded by him during a routine traffic stop. He and his partner then went about trying to cover their tracks by attempting to kill Iris who had witnessed it all and destroy the recording of the incident which she gave to Lenny. Max made up the story of the death squad to prevent Lenny from going to the police with the recording and everything he knewJeriko-One was killed by two rogue cops which was witnessed by Iris. Max then killed Iris on behalf of Gant. Gant had been using Iris to spy on Jeriko-One and knew that if his music artists discovered he was secretly recording their every move he would be ruined. Gant also requests that Max kill Faith, however Max is secretly having an affair with Faith so he takes the opportunity to kill Gant instead and attempts to frame Lenny for both his and Iris' murder a5c7b9f00b
