When the body of man is found whose ID says he's Remington Steele, Laura, Steele and Mildred go to the morgue. While Laura and Steele don't recognize the man, Mildred does but doesn't say anything. She leaves and goes to idea man George Edward Mulch. Apparently this is one of his latest ideas. Later Steele and Laura are grabbed and taken to someone who demands why they didn't do the job he was hired to do. Of course they have no idea what they're talking about.
