The USS Enterprise's historic five-year mission continues with all new episodes of the original series. "Star Trek: Continues", a new Trek series, beams down with exciting adventures of the Federation's most heroic crew led by Captain James T. Kirk. The lighting and color of the highly accurate sets accentuate the equally detailed props and costumes, matching the original series that ran from 1966-69! With acting and stories that also replicate the original series, the adventures are sure to dazzle even the most die hard Trek fans. Witness now the untold morality plays that explore the final frontier and more importantly... the human condition. Fans of the original series will especially enjoy the pilot episode as a familiar guest star from the original series reprises his role in a sequel entitled "Pilgrim of Eternity".
The further adventures of the crew of the USS Enterprise.
That was a surprise! This was actually rather good. Once I got over the strange faces, this was a refreshing rehash of the original premise. A Roddenbery-style sci-fi drama as only Kirk and the crew can convey it.

The screenplay was excellent, up there with the top of some of the original Star Trek series. This 'Series 4, Episode One' took as its base the rediscovery of one of the crew's old adversaries. This can be a lazy way of story-telling, relying on one's memory of the impact of the original episode to give the new story substance. Wrath of Khan was a good fun movie, but at the end of the day the character of Khan was just lifted straight from the original Trek episode and not developed (apologies to all Trekkies whom I have just insulted). However, here, the screenwriters developed the story and character in a much more imaginative way. The moral dilemmas at the core of many original series episodes is really strongly felt in this production. It really does have the look and feel of Star Trek TOS.

The other good side is the CGI and set design. First class for a TV drama. As good as the original.

Okay, now the criticism ... some of the acting is lacking at times. Vic Mignogna as Kirk is astonishing, utterly believable. The actors playing Scottie, McCoy and Uhura are also good. Spock and the flight crew are not quite so credible, even a little cringing at times, but look at the first Star Trek episode of TOS and several of them were pretty wooden. I'm sure these guys can develop.

The lasting impression is of a gifted amateur production and a good story told. I look forward to future episodes, and hope they have not put all their good ideas into this first show. Keep it up, guys, you have a fan.
Feels like the same exact set and the same show, almost. The sets really look like the original enterprise and they've given it the 60's feel.The acting is not great but compared to the TV shows in the 60's not too too bad. Actually capt kirk's acting was pretty good with one big BUT. Captain kirk was NOT gay.

Now you can call me all the names you want but if DR House from england can talk like an American then a gay actor can do his lines without the gay affectations. Gay sounding speech or speech and mannerisms that common wisdom associates with being gay are NOT genetic but merely an accent and a behavior. A decent actor should be able to do lines without denoting his sexual orientation. And a gay capt kirk may appeal to some gay Trekkie's, it definitely takes away from the characterization of kirk.

Having said that, I am trying to get thru a few more episodes to see if it goes away or if this is a show with a gay agenda;

This show isn't gonna win any Emmy's but if you're jonesin for some trek it ain't half bad if you can get past the gay kirk thing, it's giving me some problems for now
