Only a rebellious alien warrior can help them reunite and leave the planet to stop this deadly menace from beginning a possible galactic war.
I&#39;m not a big Star Trek fan, I haven&#39;t seen the original movies or the series and it hasn&#39;t been a big part of my life. I just really like the first two J.J. Abrams reboot movies so I was excited to see this one.<br/><br/>I didn&#39;t give it a 6 or a 6.5 but a 7 because it doesn&#39;t have dumb or boring scenes that I don&#39;t care about. But all in all the film is nothing special, it&#39;s decent, it&#39;s OK and it has problems.<br/><br/>Most of the special effects are really good but there was a few times where the CGI looked bad. There&#39;s a lot of action scenes where the camera is moving too fast and it&#39;s messy so you can&#39;t really see what&#39;s going on. And there are some scenes where the dialogue and the comedy just don&#39;t work. The performances were very good, Idris Elba as the villain is OK but you have to wait until the end to really figure out his characters motivation. What bothered me is that some of the characters were really unused while some of them got way too much screen time. The movie also rehashes elements from the previous films.<br/><br/>In the end I was expecting something more, it just turns out like any other film. It&#39;s also very predictable. Even though it is fun and entertaining to watch so I do recommend it.
Another reviewer said that if you liked the first 2 movies, then you&#39;d like this one. Couldn&#39;t be further from the truth. I&#39;ve loved nearly everything Start Trek for 40 years including the first 2 films in this reboot. Beyond doesn&#39;t deliver as expected. <br/><br/>The first reboot introduces us to Enterprise and her crew via an altered time line, establishing the means to change everything we know about Star Trek. Into Darkness takes full advantage of this new found freedom through an imaginative, well thought out twist on the story of Khan Noonien Singh. Both films have very good plots, scripts, pacing, acting and effects.<br/><br/>Star Trek Beyond has an ultra thin plot, a so-so script, mostly good acting, bad pacing and CGI work that is not on the same level as that of previous two films. <br/><br/>Beyond is not a total loss. Sofia Buotella is wonderful as Jaylah and since she was not wearing a red shirt, there&#39;s reason to hope that she might appear in a future installment. There are also a few good visual and humorous moments. Should have been many more of them.<br/><br/>IMO Star Trek Beyond is not worth the price of 3D or IMAX. I just saw it in Real 3D version and I&#39;d like 1/3 of my $ back, please.
A return to fun, and a return to form for the new version of the old Trek. The 13th Trek movie is also the second good odd-numbered instalment in a row. Lucky for some.

The adversary Krall is ultimately identified as a deformed Balthazer M. Edison, captain of the U.S.S. Franklin, a ship that, according to Scotty, disappeared without a trace in 2164, shortly after the foundation of the Federation of Planets. Krall/Edison is also identified as a former M.A.C.O. (Starfleet Marines), and mentions fighting during the Xindi War (2153-2154) as well as the Romulan-Earth Wars (2156-2160). Especially the mentioning of the Xindi War is interesting, because this places him directly on board the Enterprise NX-01, during the events of the third season of <a href="/title/tt0244365/">Enterprise (2001)</a>. He later states that he became disillusioned when the Federation was founded, and there was no apparent need for soldiers anymore. He received command of the U.S.S. Franklin in recognition of his services for Starfleet, and later disappeared. Some viewers have noted that this does not seem to fit in the official Star Trek timeline. If Edison received command of a ship after the Romulan Wars, how could it be a warp 4 ship? By the time the wars had ended, the Enterprise NX-01 and the Columbia NX-02 had already been flying with warp 5 engines for many years.
