After her boyfriend dumps her on the eve of their exotic vacation, impetuous dreamer Emily Middleton persuades her ultra-cautious mother, Linda to travel with her to paradise. Snatched is 25% laugh-out-loud funny, and 75% cringe-inducing embarrassingly bad. The premise is that Amy Schumer gets dumped by her boyfriend and decides to take her mom (Goldie Hawn) on a previously arranged vacation to Ecuador. Once there, they're kidnapped, immediately escape, and then are chased by the kidnappers. The interesting mix of cast members, unfortunately, are given too little good material with which to work. Joan Cusack plays a former "special ops" who – upon retirement – cut out her tongue to avoid giving away any government secrets, while Wanda Sykes plays her friend and traveling companion. Goldie Hawn, returning to the big screen for the first time in 15 years, get old (so to speak) pretty fast. (At one point, Amy Schumer finds a family photo album that includes real photos of Goldie Hawn in her younger days.) Ike Barinholtz, channeling a young Robert Morse, plays Amy Schumer's very strange brother. Christopher Meloni had a brief but memorable part as an Indiana Jones-type character. While set in Ecuador, the movie was actually filmed in Hawaii. (And looks like it.) Snatched is similar to Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 2 with the 25% good, 75% bad. See it now if you LOVE Amy Schumer. Otherwise, wait for the video. (Or, wait for two more 25%/75% movies to be released, watch all four of them simultaneously, and you'll be able to see one REALLY great movie.)
Yes, yes, before this I watch only one film of Dippold and it was "Ghost huntress" and it was bad, but have not bad actress from SNL, but script was terrible, not funny at all, and a male characters... well I think its like Feig in real life. :) Anyway, I pick up Snatched only for a Schumer. But! I don't like her own film (but her stand-ups is great)... so I was really surprised when this film turns up as a pure gold, with many jokes, acceptable male characters (not over the top as in "Ghostbustress") and again - jokes so many and they really Schumer-like and Goldy was good too (they are a perfect pair). But. I see many woman just hate Schumer, and even this movie mostly like "Adam Sandler comedy for girls"... well not to many woman can accept hyper-realistic style of Amy.
As Snatched’s blonde-leading-the-blonde farce careens on, it stumbles into moments of deranged inspiration.
