A dad has been jailed after subjecting his daughter to a campaign of sexual abuse that included photographing himself touching her as she slept.
The man, who is in his late 30s, sexually abused the teenager in their Huddersfield home over a seven-month period.
Dozens of images of the victim being abused in her sleep were later found on a USB stick, revealing that the abuse had gone on for longer than she had initially realised.
The defendant, who YorkshireLive have chosen not to name in order to tell the full story, was jailed for 10-and-a-half years today (Thursday) after admitting 10 offences.
Sentencing, Judge Simon Phillips QC told him: "This is tragic tale of persistent abuse within the household of your daughter.
"The one person who she should have been able to look to for support and protection grossly abused the trusted position that you as her father were in and you did so over a persistent period of time."
Prosecutor Michael Morley said the girl believed she was first abused in January last year.

She had been falling asleep on the sofa while watching a movie when she woke up to find her dad touching her.
The victim made repeated attempts to get away from him and even curled up into a ball at one point but he did not stop.
He performed a sex act on himself in front of her and tried kissing her but she pushed him away.
He would go into her bedroom at night and abuse her in a similar way.
He would also ask the victim for a hug and pull her onto his lap in the kitchen.
Leeds Crown Court heard she tried to tell her mother about the abuse but she did not believe her.
The victim told some of her friends and one of them later wrote on their school website that she had been self-harming because her dad rapes her.
In July last year, the girl was reluctant to make disclosures when spoken to by a safeguarding officer as she did not want to 'ruin' her family, but bravely admitted: "He likes to come into my bedroom when I am sleeping and start touching me."
She was interviewed by police later that day and told them the details of the abuse before being taken into care.
Her dad denied the offences in his police interview.
The court was told the girl's mum expressed shock and disbelief that the allegations could be true.
But a few months later, her mum found a USB stick under the kitchen sink and put it into the computer to find 64 images of her daughter being sexually abused in her sleep, including having her naked genitals touched.
The images dated back to November 2018.
Sixteen of the images were in category B while 48 of the images were in category C.
The defendant threatened to take his own life but continued to deny the offences.
The defendant later pleaded guilty to nine counts of sexual activity with a child and one count of making indecent images of a child.
He has three previous convictions for seven offences.
Michael Walsh, mitigating, said his client had made ill-advised comments, such as the abuse 'just happened' and was committed 'in a moment of madness', but insisted that he does take responsibility for his actions.
He urged the judge to give the defendant the minimum jail term possible as he had pleaded guilty at a 'reasonably' early stage.
The defendant was made subject to an indefinite sexual harm prevention order and placed on the sex offender register indefinitely.
An NSPCC spokesperson said: "Sexual abuse can cause devastating damage to a young person's life, and the bravery shown by this young girl in speaking out against her attacker cannot be understated.
"We hope the girl is receiving the support and help she needs to move on from this horrific abuse. Sexual abuse is never the child's fault, and we hope she can take some solace knowing that by courageously speaking out against her abuser, he has now faced justice.
"We would encourage anyone who has experienced abuse to seek support. Our volunteers visit schools around the UK to deliver Speak Out Stay Safe assemblies, which help teach children how to identify different types of abuse. Our specially-trained Childline counsellors are available 24 hours a day to support children and young people around the country who need help, and adults concerned about the wellbeing of a child can call the NSPCC Helpline on 0808 8005000."

A mother has recounted how her father sexually abused her before going on the run for 25 years to avoid jail.
Nicola Kime, now 44, was just seven years old when her mother died of bowel cancer, leaving her in the care of her father.
For the next five years she was abused by dad Michael Evans, now 65, before she eventually confided in a school friend, who alerted police.
Evans was arrested and charged but he fled their home in Grantham, Lincolnshire before he could face a judge and wasn’t found for another 25 years.

Evans was jailed for 15 years after being found guilty of a string of sex offences against his daughter.
Now mother-of-three Nicola is speaking out about her horrific abuse after living in fear for more than 25 years.
She said: ‘Not only did Dad take away my childhood, he has stolen most of my life.
‘For years, I was afraid of my own shadow, terrified that Dad would hunt me down.
‘I’m so pleased that he’s faced justice now. It was worth the wait.’
After Nicola lost her mum Ann, aged 33, and moved in with her dad and his girlfriend, it took just weeks before he preyed on her.
Nicola, of Spalding, Lincolnshire, said: ‘One night, he crept into my room while I was sleeping.
‘He forced my legs open and touched me. Afterwards, I felt sick and confused.
‘From then on, Dad forced me to watch him masturbate.
‘It was horrible but I accepted that this is what fathers did to their little girls.’
Nicola, now a domestic assistant, said she dreaded whenever he’d creep into her room and recalled how he tried to rape her when she was just eight years old.
She said: ‘He snuck into my room and tried to force my legs open. But I clamped my legs together so he couldn’t hurt me.
‘Thankfully he didn’t penetrate me but I was terrified of him. I felt sick. And refused to tell anyone about the abuse.’
The late-night visits went on for years until she was talking about sex with a friend at school when she was 13 and asked how ‘often her dad did it to her’.
Nicola said: ‘She looked so shocked and said that her dad had never done it to her.
‘I felt confused. Dad had made it seem so normal.
‘The next day, police and a social worker were waiting to speak to me at school, so she must have told someone.
‘I revealed what happened and was taken to live with my mum’s sister. I finally felt free.’
Evans was arrested and charged with attempted rape, indecent assault and indecency with a child but on the day he was due to appear in court for the trial, he never showed up and a manhunt was launched.
Nicola said she lived most of her life in fear, terrified he’d go looking for her.
Nicola says: ‘Whenever I went out, I thought I’d bump into him or that he might be watching me. I became too scared to leave the house.
‘Despite police searches, he’d simply vanished and as the years moved on, my hopes that he would be found died.’
But one morning in 2013, two police officers knocked on her door and told her they’d found her father.
Nicola said she trembled and burst into tears, as police told her they were reviewing a missing person case into the disappearance of a woman called Susan in May 1988.
She had left her husband and hadn’t been heard from since but police found she’d been living under a false name in Kent, with Nicola’s father.
Nicola said: ‘I couldn’t believe it. I’d given up all hope, I felt so overwhelmed.’
In December 2014, Evans, of Margate, Kent, appeared at Lincoln Crown Court to stand trial.
It was revealed Susan had been the wife of her dad’s friend and they’d fled together to avoid a prison sentence , while Evans used her husband’s identity.
Michael was found guilty of two charges of attempted rape, six counts of indecent assault of a girl under 14, two counts of indecency with a child and conspiracy to pervert the course of justice at Lincoln Crown Court.

Speaking some years after her father’s conviction, Nicola said she was ‘so pleased’ he was jailed and has finally been able to move forward with her life.
She said: ‘The fact that he ran from the police shows how scared he was.
‘For years, I’ve felt like I’ve been running from my past.
‘Now I’ve realised that I wasn’t to blame.’
