From Malcolm & Marie to Deep Water, this year's slate of films leans into the steam.
Tension has been high over the past year or so. Everyone is tired. Everyone is a little less healthy just because there's so much dang stress swirling around at all times. Not to sound like a pharmaceutical commercial, but there is a cure. Sex. Feelin' sexy. Watching sexy things. Let's break that down. Sexual intercourse can help release endorphins and other hormones that naturally help ease stress and regulate blood pressure. Getting turned on by a sexy movie is literally the safest form of sex because instead of going out into our COVID infested world and doing a random hookup (yes, that's the phrasing we went with), you can stay home, get steamy, and then keep it all in-house.
This is where the sexiest movies of 2021 come in. Sure, at this point in the year, there aren't many films that have been released, but that doesn't mean we can't tease the line up. After all, when it comes to sexy moments, sometimes teasing is the best part. Take for instance Malcolm & Marie, due out on Netflix in February. A sexy movie doesn't need sex to be sexy. Zendaya and John David Washington's chemistry in the film Malcolm & Marie is palpable in the trailer with out a single drop of nudity.
So let's look at what's to come—the year's most anticipated films with undeniable sex appeal.

There's something about the black and white of it all that really elevates how sensual Malcolm & Marie is. Directed by Sam Levinson and starring John David Washington and Zendaya, the film is about one couple's night after getting home, chronicling their love, disagreements, and sensuality.
Listen, it's a particular vibe, but a vibe nonetheless. Barb and Star Go to Vista Del Mar has all the makings of a sexy film. The beach. Swim suits. Sex. A scantily clad Jamie Dornan. More sex. And no, it may not look exactly like the sexy films you're accustomed to, but damn if it doesn't do the job.
Hard bodies fighting to the death? I mean, it's kind of brutal, but also, you're going to be hard pressed to find a film with more insanely fit people who have a skill set as intricate and impressive as this crew. And bonus: it will premiere on HBO Max, so you can take it all in from home.

I mean, it's Bond. Set partly in Jamaica, not only do we get a laid back Daniel Craig as Bond, who is the personification of sex appeal, but we also have French actress Léa Seydoux as the intoxicating Madeline Swann, who is making the rare second appearance in the Bond universe.
You might have thought that Black Widow was down for the count (sorry, spoilers), but the ever-alluring Natasha Romanova has one more story in her before she goes. In a final origin story, Black Widow returns home, reuniting with her KGB roots where we'll be introduced to a whole cast of new, hulking Russian assets: Florence Pugh and David Harbour being two of them.
We're not here to judge what gets you going, but studies have shown that a healthy dose of fear is not too far removed from the same type of excitement associated with sex. It's science. Look it up. So Chris Rock's Saw revival might just get your wheels turning, if you're into that sort of thing.

The original 1986 film was an awakening for a lot of people: be it for Kelly McGillis and Meg Ryan's presence, or that insanely erotic volleyball scene that has since become iconic. What we're saying is that Top Gun piqued the interest of everyone, across the board, so it's hard to imagine that a 2021 follow up starring Miles Teller and the seemingly ageless Tom Cruise would be any less enticing.
Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings
In some ways, every Marvel superhero becomes a bit of a sex symbol. (No, Thanos is not a superhero. Don't try it.) (Yes, I'm also talking about Ant Man.) That makes Shang-Chi's introduction into the Marvel canon all the more exciting.
Anya Taylor-Joy's Last Night in Soho is a trippy journey through time back to the 1960s. She plays a fashion designer who lurches back in time. While it appears to be a stylish, sexy venture in time, she quickly finds out that not everything is as it seems.
No trailer or even stills from Deep Water, but for those who are mourning the loss of Ben Affleck and Ana de Armas' relationship, fear not: Deep Water follows them as a couple where Affleck's character allows his wife to have affairs to avoid divorce. But then her suitors start coming up missing and suddenly, that divorce seems preferential.

The History of Hollywood Censorship
Everyone has a favorite genre: comedy, romance, horror. Those are, of course, the popular ones. Or at least the most popular to talk about. But there's another element that permeates them all, even if we don't like drawing attention to the fact that we're intrigued by it. It's the sexiest films category: movies that evoke the sometimes taboo topics of intimacy and attraction and lust. In some ways, it is beyond the idea of a genre because sex has a way of making its way into all parts of our lives.
To prove that, we've listed some of the sexiest films available to stream on Netflix. Don't try to put sex in a box (though, there's probably a movie where someone has tried to do just that). There's something below for everyone. Don't fear the sex chatter. Embrace it.

Gosling and Stone in a movie with far less music than La La Land? Sign us up. I mean, they do the Dirty Dancing lift, shirtless and wet. It's practically willed to be on this list. The chemistry between Gosling's aspirational physique and Stone's girl next door attitude means fireworks, to say the least.

This queer-adjacent movie is also a thriller, a satire, and perhaps a touch of a horror film? It also features way more skin than it should be allowed to, but it works.
A documentary? A documentary. Following Italian porn star Rocco Siffredi, the film follows him as he spends his final year in front of the camera before he hung up his, um, well. Before he retired.
Sam Levinson's black and white Netflix creation may have been met with middling reviews, but the film's co-stars gave such an electrifying performance that reviewers forgave the film's downfalls. Starring Zendaya and John David Washington, the film follows an intimate evening following a couple's night out. Dripping in sexual energy, emotion, and chemistry, the film is a cocktail of sexiness.

Jessica Chastain is the lead (again!) in Tate Taylor's 2020 film about a sexy assassin who has to work against the odds to reunite her family without becoming an assassination target herself.
Two sexy leads. One of them is an assassin in a former life? Sold. Katherine Heigl and Ashton Kutcher are a sexy time capsule of talent from the 2000s.

Jezebel takes a look at a different side of the sex work industry, exploring the complexity of being a cam girl. In the film, a woman follows her sister's lead and begins her own webcam shows, but what follows is more complicated than simply signing on and turning a camera on for tips.
Elisa and Marcela tells the true story of the first same-sex marriage in Spain, in which two women, Elisa Sánchez Loriga and Marcela Gracia Ibeas, posed as a heterosexual couple so they could marry in 1901.
This psychological horror from director Daniel Goldhaber stars Madeline Brewer as Alice, a cam girl who finds that her online identity has been taken over by a doppelgänger of herself, who is seducing men that mysteriously vanish.

This modern day rom-com stars actor/writer/director James Sweeney as Todd, an obsessive compulsive gay man questioning his own sexuality. A twist on the genre, he meets Rory, played by Katie Findlay, and they get involved in a relationship that includes everything but sex.
A struggling couple Jibran (Kumail Nanjiani) and Leilani (Issa Rae) are framed for a crime and set off on a hilarious adventure to clear their names.
For any little boy who has ever had a babysitter a few years his senior, this film will strike a bit of nostalgia for those adolescent fantasies. For any little boy whose babysitter also dabbled in the occult and threatened to kill him, let this listicle serve as a trigger warning.

Ali Wong and Randall Park have incredible chemistry in Netflix’s Always Be My Maybe. The film is practically embedded with sexual tension, as the two main characters have an intimate past that gets re-explored 15 years after the fact.
The true story of the most debauched rock group ever, The Dirt follows Mötley Crüe through the heady days of the 1980s as the heavy metal band becomes as famous for their love of sex and drugs as much as their rock and roll.

Rocco Siffredi offers an intimate behind-the-scenes look at his life as a porn star on the eve of his retirement from the business.
You may have heard about Chris Pine's full-frontal scene, which is barely sexy. But his love scene with co-star Florence Pugh is certainly hot and heavy.
Game of Thrones' Natalie Dormer co-wrote this sexy thriller about a blind woman who hears her neighbor's (Emily Ratajkowski) murder, which sends her down a dark rabbit hole or violence and corruption.
Director Miguel Arteta co-wrote the screenplay for this comedy with Alia Shawkat, who stars as one half of a couple (alongside Laia Costa) that meets at a club and discovers intimacy through frequent sex.
