Ben must prove he is good enough to date cop James' sister. By doing this he goes on a "Ride Along" to show that he is not weak and he will do whatever it takes to get James' approval but along the way runs into a few obstacles that he has to overcome in a very funny way.
I caught a sneak preview of this a few weeks back and was surprised at how funny it was. This is the first major film Kevin Hart is carrying on his own outside of his concert movies. After supporting roles in Think Like A Man and Grudge Match, this is his opportunity to show what he can do on his own. What he does is makes you laugh, his energy, his charisma alone carries this action comedy to another level. Surprisingly, he has great chemistry with a tough looking Ice Cube, as an Atlanta cop bent on making his life a living hell. There is sequel potential as it would be interesting to see what these guys will be up to in a few years. Make no mistake this is Kevin's movie and much like Chris Tucker did with Rush Hour, makes a memorable character you can't help but follow. <br/><br/>In the film, Kevin Hart plays a high school security guard who has basically two dreams in life. To become an Atlanta police officer and marry the girl of his dreams, whose brother Ice Cube has other plans. Initially, Cube sets up Kevin on a plan to fail during a routine ride along but the two become unexpected allies and friends. There's a back story involving a major crime king pin played by Laurence Fishburne, who makes a memorable bad guy as the film's main antagonist. <br/><br/>This is the first of several movies Kevin Hart will star in this year and while many compare him to Eddie Murphy, Chris Tucker, and Martin LLawrence, make no mistake he's his own person. The supporting cast of Cube, Fishburne, and even John Leguizamo makes this a fun time at the movies.
Seriously? Amazing? Can you people use any other adjective besides amazing? Really? Amazing means shocked and astonished! How the hell does this movie fall into the overused amazing category? Are you all a bunch of 14 year olds? This movie was not funny! It was not amazing!!!!!!!!! I would rather have a root canal with laughing gas than have to pay to watch this crap film again. Another failed film of 2014. I have written 4 bad reviews out of 4 movies this month. Gravity was horrible, "her" was the worst movie I ever saw next to nacho libre and I won't mention the other. This comedy had no comedy. Take your money and go to a comedy club and don't waste it on the 10/10 bogus liar reviews! 0 out of 10 it gets. 10 thumbs down! I want my 2 hours of life back :(
He (Fishburne) rips into his dialogue like steak, savoring every word as if he were paid by the syllable. For a moment, we’re in a different movie, one where someone has decided to singlehandedly deconstruct a cliché. It’s a very short moment.
