Recruitment drive attract eager volunteers

Team MapAm💜re

This academic year, Polytechnic University of the Philippines (PUP) welcomed over 15,000 first year students, the first batch of enrollees since the government's introduction of the K-to-12 program that expanded the basic education in the Philippines from 10 to 12 years.

The PUP Campus in San Juan welcomed over 450 students this semester, and last week, during the student orientation for first-year I.T. students, the MapAm💜re Initiative conducted a recruitment drive from their NSTP-CWTS student body and invited them to participate in a new program that will empower them as digital humanitarians and develop tomorrow's innovative leaders.

Young volunteer-applicants respond to call, and listen intently for instructions.

Volunteer-applicants competed for placement in the pilot of a service-learning program that espouses spatial literacy, the value of Free and Open software and data, technical proficiency in open mapping using OpenStreetMap, and the ethics of service as a civic and humanitarian duty.

The MapAm💜re Team is excited to collaborate again with PUP San Juan!
