Really it is presented as almost a series of short stories, rather than a continuous storyline. So its possible (and perhaps recommended) to just skip through the boring parts in favor of the more exciting stuff.One of my favorite stories was about a recurring encounter that the author had with a leopard. Leopards are astoundingly powerful animals, kind of like a tiger but faster. Somehow, though, this particular leopard and the author developed a distant, but respectful relationship. Ill not spoil it here, but the story about the author, this leopard and the nearby village is one of the examples of how his narrative captures the character and mystery of the Africa of the 1950s and 1960s.
