The Sonic the Hedgehog fandom can be scary at times, especially when it comes to porn of the characters. A search at DeviantArt for that would scare most people away after a few clicks. The Zeta Team has now been at work on their game, Project X: Love Potion Disaster, for over 4 years. Previous updates involved refining bits and pieces of the gameplay or adding new characters and modes. Now, with the 7.4 update, they have added in a new stage complete with an entire tribe of raptor-riding, futanari tribesmen. Yes, that does sound quite silly, but do remember that this is in the Sonic the Hedgehog fan universe.

Stage 5 is all full and complete, with 3 acts and the boss zone. Due the fact that I’m going to remake the Gallery mode for the next release, I didn’t updated the existing one with the Stage 5, I would have to make lots of work to delete them soon. So, I’m sorry for that. Because the gallery and Boss gallery aren’t updated, I didn’t find fair to the players updating the Arena and Boss Rush either. Dboy is the artist who colaborates with us to make the animated Game Overs, he was very busy, but he will do them as soon as he can. The next release will be centered in the new Gallery Mode and the update animations for Blaze and Cream. Again, sorry if there is no Gallery Mode, but I really wanted to make the release now, it has been a long time.
Project X: Love Potion Disaster is free to download from their website in its entirety. Even if Sonic the Hedgehog porn may not appeal to you, there is a laundry list of different fetishes the game includes, and perhaps just one of those will tickle that special part of your body. There are still a few bugs in this release, such as a slight feedback on some stage music or minor graphical inconsistencies. As this game is still in its alpha stage, these bugs may happen frequently. Keep that in mind while playing.

As an outsider looking in, you would assume that adult games rarely made use of child friendly content. Yet if one was to research the topic, you would find that a number of children’s cartoons and gaming franchises have been adapted into adult content. It seems that Sonic the Hedgehog is no different and the supersonic hedgehog has been the subject of a number of these titles. However, the one we will be focusing on today will be Project X: Love Potion Disaster.
This game plays rather like the original 2D scrollers in the Sonic the Hedgehog series as well as other arcade scrollers like Ecco The Dolphin, Celeste, Sonic Mania. Then perhaps somewhat like Babysitting Cream mostly due to the adult themes and links to the Sonic franchise. This game aims to marry Sonic’s arcade gameplay with adult themes but does the game do this successfully? We find out in our review of Project X: Love Potion Disaster.
If anyone has followed this game since it’s Genesis, it’s actually been in development for over thirteen years. The developers rarely spoke to each other and as a result, this game feels like a mesh of ideas that aren’t cohesive and don’t provide that quintessential Sonic experience. In fact, this game feels like a side scroller like the old Disney titles like Aladdin or The Lion King. Yet, without all the things that made those games classics of their era. Sonic is all about speed and action and this game offers the player neither.
Then let’s talk about the presentation of this game. In terms of the visual quality, the game is sub-par. The sprites for this title have clearly been lifted from other existing titles and its jarring against other assets that we can only assume were also borrowed from elsewhere. Then where sound quality is concerned, this game steals assets from other games too. The Empty Tome theme from Castlevania: Symphony of the Night being a prime example of this. The presentation of this game just feels dirty and cheap and for that reason, it’s hard to enjoy.
This game also makes use of existing Sonic games such as Sonic Heroes to piece together voice clips where it can. Then where it can’t, you’ll simply be treated to text boxes. Partial voiceovers accompanied by text boxes can be done well. Just look at Persona 5 as an example of this. However, this is an example that proves that laziness doesn’t equal a successful game and this title suffers due to this consistent attempt to cut corners.
The only thing that we can say in praise of this title is that although the gameplay isn’t what it should be, it is playable. The controls are responsive and that simple mechanics implemented work as they should. So as a game, it functions but the fact that this is the highlight of what’s on offer here really tells you all you need to know.
Overall, this game is a train wreck, especially considering how long this game has spent in development. The gameplay is lack lustre, the sound and visual quality is laughable and the sexual content is suspect as well due to the canon age of the characters on the roster. Maybe that’s what drew you to the title and if it is, have a long, hard look at yourself.
This game is a black mark on the Sonic franchise and if Sega knew what was good for them, they would request to have this game expunged from existence.

After the player's captured by the evil Doctor Eggman, Pili, and Mili, assistants of Dr. Akari work on a secret love potion. While working on this they accidentally use too much of Akari's pheromone. The secret lab rumbles with the chaos Eggman is bringing to the city, and the project accidentally expels this mutated love potion all over the world. Our character now has to save the heroes of the world from these weird results and face the world.
Even though it's a hentai game based on the sonic universe, the gameplay is actually beat 'em up. It doesn't play like any Sonic game at all, and the porn scenes are weird in every possible way. The characters aren't great, it's not like Sonicmania where the art is incredible and nice looking. This game is the definition of a weird title.
The story isn't as well written as in games like Legend of Queen Opala. And the game world isn't really well-developed. The characters are written similarly to fanfic.
ProjectX: Love Potion Disaster is weird in every way. The gameplay is not what one would expect from an eroge game. It's not even what you'd expect from a sonic game either. The sex scenes are oddly animated but they are alright. There are many Sonic characters in this game, and with the pheromone around they all have sex all the time. If you are looking for something like this, then this game is probably for you.
This game is hard to recommend, the only way we could really recommend it is if you really love sonic and furry hentai. Otherwise, it's not easy to enjoy, even though it's a full game already. Some things feel like they are still in development, and it even received further development after release for some years.
Graphics and visuals: The entire game UI looks awful. The art of the characters is really spot on, and they captured the Sonic style. But the animations are really odd, and they don't look fluid or natural. And many character proportions are really odd.
Gameplay: It's hard to go wrong with a beat 'em up game. However, somehow ProjectX: Love Potion Disaster does. The controllers feel stiff and not too responsive. The sexual scenes play off weirdly and are hard to enjoy. It's certainly not as fast as you'd expect from a game inspired and based on Sonic the Hedgehog.
Sound: Once again, the soundtrack captured the essence of the Sonic games. Even though the sound effects aren't great, the music covers up a bit.
