They arrived in silence and darkness, descending from the skies with a hunger for human flesh. Parasytes - alien creatures who must invade and take control of a human host to survive - have come to earth. No one knows the secret except high school student, Shinichi Izumi, who's right hand has been invaded by a Parasyte. Shinichi and Migi, the Parasyte, begrudgingly form a friendship in the middle of a silent war between humanity and the Parasytes.
While worm-like aliens called Parasytes invade Earth, one of the aliens fail to crawl into a boy's ear. This Parasyte burrows into his arm instead where Izumi Shinichi is forced to live with it. The two form a strong bond to work together to survive.
As i watched the last episode i just sit there in silence as the credits roll thinking about the various themes this show explored. What it is to be human?. How everything around us should be treated? Are we supposed to be on the top? Do we deserve that? Are we any different from an animal simply wanting to survive? What separates us as humanity? This show beautifully explored these themes with the introduction of parasite in the human lives. An amazing character study on the meaning of life itself. On the surface its damn entertaining and sometimes sentimental with interesting characters and parasite and enough bloody violence for an avid anime watcher to love but will also bring delight to the ones looking for something more as well. And it delivers it all in a well made show which might possibly be one of the best animes i've ever seen.

Verdict: Beautiful
Going into this anime I was expecting something a little above your average 'wimp to hero' series. After seeing a few clips of some savage moments such as the hero slinging a rock at some poor bastards face, I was definitely intrigued by the brutality and power of the hero. However, after starting out the series quiet strong, with an interesting slew of episodes developing the character into the icy, stone heaving, building scaling hero that he came to peak as, by the middle of the series. The narrative began to stagnate, by the time you see the parasite political party it becomes quiet predictable and lame. Although there were a few good scenes/episodes and some interesting set pieces; among the second half of the series, it just seemed to fizzle out. The action in the second half of the series also didn't seem as intense as it once was and the villains no longer feel all that threatening or menacing. I particularly didn't appreciate the love triangle, both female members seemed very, very hollow and cliché, and I loathed many of scenes where either of them were included especially the ending. I would have actually been impressed had the writers let her die, instead of trying to intentionally stir emotions by making the audience think Migi was actually gone, in which predictably he/she wasn't. The series has quiet a few of these moments, which just come off as lazy writing. Especially after defeating his nemesis, and deciding whether to let nature run its course or not, once he decides to let nature run its course as opposed to imposing his own will upon it, just for the writers to back pedal and have the protagonist kill it off, which was pretty jarring and made the entire monologue seem pointless. The climax of the final battle also seemed a little pathetic, I'd hardly even call it a fight, there were no great combat scenes or anything to give it any flavour. I'd just wished it'd stuck to the tone of the first half of the series where it was much less predictable and people were even major characters were getting axed, which I really respected in the beginning keeping me on the edge of my seat. Another thing that kind of annoyed me, was how the writers seemed to feign the idea of conservation and tried to get philosophical in a way quiet often explored by western media for the past few decades. However, it all fell flat and the writers got a little softer and less inspired, the dialogue also seemed to take a hit towards the end as well. Despite these short comings, along with ones I failed to mention, I believe anyone who really enjoys anime in general and can tolerate all the character tropes and narrative cliche's will most likely enjoy this. If your looking for something really original however, this mightn't be the place to find it. Regardless of my opinion, please do check it out for yourself you may very well like it.
