It reminds me of the books I learned to read with.Although, this book is called Its St. Patricks Day Dear Dragon there is really not much about that special day. The book deals with things that are green and about spring. The young boy and his pet dragon find green traffic lights, a new green flower sprouting, fly a green kite decorated with a picture of the dragon, eat green cupcakes among other things. The only tie in to St. Patricks Day is that they buy a shamrock plant for the mother and the father is wearing a shamrock pin which he gives to the boy. The book is still a good one to help beginning readers regardless of the lack of St. Patricks information.These Beginning-to-Read books capture the imaginations of beginning readers and help them on their way to independent reading. They could also be read aloud to young children who are not able to read yet.
