OKEX Technology Company Limited (OKEx) is proud to announce that it will be expanding to Malta. OKEx met with Maltese government and regulatory leaders to understand their legislative and regulatory plans, and provided written feedback and engaged in open dialogue. We are confident in the Malta government’s approach and decided to make Malta a foundation for further OKEx growth.

OKEx is a leading digital asset exchange that was launched to provide global users with a robust digital-asset-only exchange platform. OKEx currently offers token-to-token and futures-like trading.

Chris Lee, CEO of OKEx, states: “We look forward to working with the Malta government as it is forward thinking and shares many of our same values: the most important of which are protection of traders and the general public, compliance with Anti Money Laundering and Know Your Customer standards, and recognition of the innovation and importance of continued development in the Blockchain ecosystem.”

Tim Byun, Chief Risk Officer and Head of Government Relations of OKEx, states: “Malta’s Virtual Financial Asset Act is a solid foundation for the industry and the government to work together in fostering the nascent blockchain/digital asset industry. More specifically, Malta’s sound risk-based approach will help cultivate a responsible, compliant, and healthy ecosystem.”

OKEx looks forward to joining and growing the Malta Blockchain community, including participating in Malta’s Government sponsored DLT Delta Conference in October, 2018.

An EU member state, Malta is actively building a supportive regulatory and technical infrastructure to support the blockchain industry. Earlier this year, the Maltese government announced plans for the Malta Digital Innovation Authority, which aims to provide legal certainty for the use of blockchain technology, and by extension, cryptocurrencies.
