The sheer audacity of the Nazis convincing the assembled worldwide press that they have been miss-cast as villains and suggesting that perhaps these Games should serve to illuminate their desire for peaceful interaction with the world is juggled with accounts of Jewish oppression, concentration camp assembly, murder and criminal acts..all designed by the writer to remind readers that, no matter how gleaming the Olympic stadium appeared, no matter how pristine the streets of Berlin were and remarked upon by visiting spectators, and no matter how avuncular, friendly, and paternal Hitler would appear to visiting athletes who met him, the Olympics, the pinnacle of human achievement, was absolutely and utterly out of place in Nazi Germany.
