Blindsighted, NOT Kisscut- thats the next book and soon to be on my list once Ive read what Im currently reading- was a wonderfully written book. The characters were detailed, different, with dark secrets, interesting and very believable thoughts, heart, emotions and a conscious. I liked the divided viewpoint between Jeremy, Sara and Lena. They were all different but had many similarities. They were all driven by the rape and murder of Sybll Adams- Lenas sister- and wanted to solve it for their own reasons, apart from the obvious. The description of the rape, the torture and death were very detailed and disturbing. I found it hard to read without pulling a face and taking a much needed breather before picking the book up again. Some parts were enough to make you want to vomit. But in a good way, if that makes sense. The scenery, characters, plot were bang on, the prose was eloquent, thorough, flowed beautifully and kept you interested; on your toes. You wanted to know what would happen next after each chapter and thats a hard thing to pull off, especially with a 400 page book. My only negative comment was that I guessed who had done it from the moment he was introduced. The more I read about him the more I was convinced he was the killer, though I did have others I suspected as well. He became more and more the likely culprit as it developed, but it honestly, didnt bother me one bit. The only bit that did bother me was when (view spoiler)[ Sara goes over to Jebs house -after Julia, his second victim, described the room she was locked up in with the rapist, mentioning the constant annoying clinking dripping noise of water against metal, and then of course Sara discovering the nails in a very disgusting place in Julias body during the autopsy- and the moment she hears the sound of the water dripping and sees the nails he is using on his house are exactly the same she still doesnt suspect him. That really infuriated me, because I thought the light was going to blink on in her head and shed go AHA! ITS HIM! but instead shes like, oh maybe the rapist got the same nails from the same hardware store as Jeb. DUHHHHHHH!! And then it talks about how much a softy she thinks he is and Im like COME ONNNNNNNN! USE YOUR BRAIN! I KNOW YOU HAVE ONE! Seeing as she worked out stuff I didnt even think of, and Im pretty good at guessing the who dunnits and dunwhats bit. Oh well. She soon after realizes who he is. Just a shame he mangles Lenas tongue or mouth with pliers before she works it out. Oh well, ce la vie. (hide spoiler)]
