First off, this is the Book of the eBook, Angel Codes, so I will be posting my review under both editions. I was given the eBook for free, in exchange for my review. =] As someone that lives for all things Otherworldly, I was excited to read this book. Angel Codes is slightly different from other YA supernatural series that I have read, and I found that refreshing. Summary: Ali and Kian are AngelFire, Angels that protect the world from Dark Angels. They love each other, but Kian is being held captive by his evil, Dark Angel sister, Dumah. Kian and Ali need to find a way to stop the Dark Angels, and get back together. The main focus of the book, is the battle between good and evil, and not the romance of Kian and Ali. Some authors can get obsessive with the romance, and forget about the rest of the story. There was just enough romance in the book, so it wasnt overpowering. You could really feel the struggle between them as they tried to get to each other. Which made me know just how much they really do love one another. I have not read the other books in the series, and that wasnt really an issue. There were only a few things that I didnt understand and wanted to know more about. Like Essence, and why it effects both sides. I would have liked the author to get into more of that, and some of the other characters that were introduced too fast. Another thing I would have liked, was how the new AngelFire recruits found their abilities and how they were training. Some of the new characters felt like they would have huge rolls in the book, but were only there for a short while. Maybe Ami has plans for them in future books. ;)Some of my favorite moments were the fight scenes, and how Ami described the Angel wings. That made me wish I some wings of my own. Also loved that it takes place in Manhattan. (view spoiler)[The ending left me wanting more. Im not sure if I liked the ending or not. I dont see why they had to lose their powers when the AngelFire leader died. That might have been covered in a different book, but that left me confused. Another thing that bugged me is what happened to the Angel Codes? They stopped talking about it halfway through the book. If the Dark Angels had it, and it was so important, wouldnt they want it back? (hide spoiler)]
