Talk about a character redesign. Holy cow, Scarecrow is terrifying in this! It's not gonna give me nightmares, but if I were a kid and saw this, it probably would. I love the story of this episode, it's a good change-up, instead of inducing fear, Crane's plan is to take it away. It's a good message that sometimes fear is a good thing, and Bruce getting hit with it drives that fact home. If I'm correct, wasn't Batman like super cruel in Frank Miller's "All Star Batman & Robin", this is probably the closest you could get to that on this show. And yes, I know this came out almost 10 years before Frank Miller wrote those stories, but you get the idea. It's a great way of showcasing how dangerous Bruce would be if he didn't have rules, if he didn't have mercy. Drake handles himself pretty well, sure he gets kidnapped, but that fact that he's still new to the whole sidekick thing and manages to restrain Batman, track down Crane, and give Batman the antidote all by himself, shows that he's already learned a lot.
