This is a lovely, concise, clear book about what the purpose of His suffering means and why we suffer, God will feel after you, and He will take hold of you and wrench your very heart strings, and if you can not stand it you will not be fit for an inheritance in the Celestial Kingdom of God. I think the theory that human suffering is the act of a cruel uncaring God or that because of suffering there is no God, for how could God let us suffer, is an understandable idea. But there is another understandable theory, we suffer because suffering has an eternal purpose, because if there is life after death and this life is a blink of eternity, then death is merely the gateway to real life. But we also suffer to prove ourselves worthy of life with God and life like God. We came to this life to prove our worthiness to ourselves. And God, creator of the world, only begotten of the Father took upon himself out sins to provide the gateway back to our father.Christ the Savior of mankind suffered so we would not have to suffer justice for our sins. He suffered because He loves us. Because though justice calls us down, He can step in as an eternal honest being and satisfy the demands of justice, eternal real justice, by paying for our sins and then extend mercy to those who seek after righteousness even though we ever fall short.This is the second time Ive read this book an Ill read it again. Ill read it until the complex doctrine of the Atonement lives in my heart.
