Not a Brony, and while the experience of going to an early showing (October 4th) was an (odd) experience in of itself, the movie was definitely not worth the expense of going to see a VIP (adult only) early showing. Netflix, sure. Popcorn at a theatre flick? No.<br/><br/>If you&#39;ve seen My Little Pony for the stretch of a single season, this filled every last one of the show&#39;s tropes, but to extremes. Plot wise, watch the TV show, and then don&#39;t watch the movie. It&#39;s the same thing as an episode, but 4x longer (or basically the last 4 episodes of the better seasons combined). Rehashed, tired, slapstick, painfully aware of itself.<br/><br/>Saving grace may be that the animation was greatly improved upon, though a bit unsettling. In a field where all &quot;2D&quot; (it&#39;s very CG) animated films are foreign and almost non-existent, this may have been its biggest appeal. Maybe its only appeal.<br/><br/>Oh, and Sia sings in it. If anyone cares?
To start the animation in the film is a upgrade compared to the TV show. The plot is interesting, the Mane 6 must go on a mission to save Equestria from the Storm king and his minions. The movie has got awesome catchy songs as well as great voice acting. Taye Diggs and Michael Pina provide a comic relief along side funny pony Pinkie Pie. Leiv Schreiber and Uzo Aduba provided solid voice acting and great supporting story lines. Emily Blunt, Kristin Chenoweth and Zoe Saldana all shine in their roles to make this movie better. Princess Twilight, Rarity, Pinkie Pie, Rainbow Dash, Apple Jack and Fluttershy all shine perfectly on the big screen making this movie a wonderful adventure for all ages.
The jaunty score of musical numbers (yes, there are songs) sounds vaguely familiar and yet instantly forgettable. Its only contribution to the film is to extend its running length unnecessarily by about a quarter of an hour.
