A hurricane blows Mothra's egg off Infant Island and causes it to drift to Japan. Banzo Torhata sees an opportunity to make money off the egg but Mothra's twin priestesses show up and plead with him to return the egg or else the larva will hatch and cause great damage in search of food. Torahata refuses and tries to kidnap the fairies. They then go to reporters Ichiro Sakai and Junko Nakanishi to try to persuade Torahata to return the egg. Torahata still refuses and the girls leave with the adult Mothra. In the meantime Godzilla reawakens and begins another rampage. Japan's only hope is for Mothra to return and not only save her unhatched offspring, but Japan as well.

Greedy, exploitive capitalists beating each other to bloody pulp. The destruction of an exquisitely-rendered bamboo-and-shrink-wrap Quonset hut. Close-ups of two acetylene-torch model tank meltdowns. Twin bagworms hatched from a giant blue-and-yellow striped Easter egg<br/><br/>I&#39;m agog. I&#39;ve never been a fan of Godzilla, but this is great stuff. The modeling is very nice, especially the incubator/greenhouse/Quonset hut. It looks like an architecture student&#39;s project. Ms. Photographer&#39;s costumes, especially the hats, were wonderful. Very mod.
this movie is the first to emphasize Godzilla&#39;s clumsiness. In the first scenes we clearly see he&#39;s so clumsy he levels buildings out of it, rather than being just ill-minded. as with the Mosura franchise, there is the honesty vs greed item, when two hardcore businessmen try to create a freak amusement park featuring the egg of Mosura, which had untimely reached the shore after a tornado. Both crooks will perish in less than welcoming circumstances: one killing the other, who was resentful for having been failed and who had tried to steal the first one&#39;s money; he&#39;ll eventually perish in the Godzilla rampage. Two sympathetic reporters -again a clichéd item in the Mosura franchise- try to help the miniature girls but in vain. It is to defend its egg against Godzilla that the first Mosura will die. Twin larvae are eventually born (another item retold in more recent movies ) and get rid of godzilla using their web flakes. Actors deliver good performances even if in a Japanese monster movie acting isn&#39;t that important. Special effects are decent for the era, although limited. Mosura again is the more sympathetic monster in the Toho stable. I think the emphasis here is on the twist about godzilla&#39;s clumsiness. a nice, easy to watch movie.

There is a scene included only in the US version featuring the American Navy firing frontier missiles at Godzilla as the monster walks along the beach. However, Toho themselves shot this sequence and intended to include it in the Japanese version of the film, but worried that it might make Japanese viewers uncomfortable to see American military using weapons on Japanese soil.
