A western Pennsylvania man, DeWayne Calloway, has been acquitted of all charges he faced for allegedly conspiring with a mother Shana Brown, to drug, rape and impregnate her 13-year-old daughter.
The girl’s 34-year-old mother pleaded guilty to criminal conspiracy and other charges last month and agreed to testify against DeWayne Calloway, her sexual partner at the time. Calloway took the stand to deny her allegations.
A Fayette County jury took less than an hour Wednesday to find 42-year-old DeWayne Calloway not guilty. He says the “allegations were all totally false.”
The girl’s 34-year-old mother pleaded guilty to criminal conspiracy and other charges last month and agreed to testify against Calloway, her sexual partner at the time. Calloway took the stand to deny her allegations.
Authorities say the woman was unable to have more children and asked her daughter to carry Calloway’s child, but she refused. The girl had said she was given alcohol and sleeping pills mixed in tea and soda and the man tried to assault her, but she awoke and fought off Calloway.

I know this question is about parents, please bear with me.

4 years ago my Mom started dating this guy, he was great, he gardened, cleaned, He took us fishing, he was happy, he made her happy which was the most important. I mean, he didn't have a job, and he was still divorcing his ex... but my mom was happy so everything seemed fine.

Recently with Covid, I lost my job, and my house. I'm forced to move home until April. Now, their fairytale isn't as happy as it seems.

I guess her boyfriend can be good sometimes, but he has huge depression mood swings weekly, hasn't worked in four years, My mom raises/pays for his two kids, he gets drunk and talks about how he misses his ex. She works all day long to support a family of 7.

When my siblings visit their other parent, my Mom's boyfriend will lose it. He watched a movie one day and refused to help her bring in groceries when her back was in pain, instead, he went to bed. When she asked him why he said he shouldn't have to help bring in groceries. He demanded her to leave her own bedroom, calls her fat, that's why your back hurts, all the while complaining/missing his ex-wife.

Eventually, I got between them and demanded that he showed her some respect. Swearwords were said, doors were slammed, things were broken, but my mom just deals with it. She defends him if anything.

I don't understand how she can stand up for him when he can be so abusive. They have just learned to deal with it. They are all upset with me for being mad at him for acting this way. Apparently, her boyfriend is nice sometimes and they know there are problems but they would rather just deal with it... he thinks he can overpower people and get away with it.

Anyway, it is ruining my mom's and my relationship. She is the type of person to cut people out of her life and I fear that we are on that path because I don't like her boyfriend being abusive, or an alcoholic. I don't really know how to navigate around this one. I could really use some advice.

I get how frustrating it can be when your loved one keeps protecting an abusive spouse. You need to be calm and give her the support she needs.
Some people live in a constant state of fear, fear that the spouse is going to leave them, fear they will never be good for anyone else.
I think it will be very helpful if your mum could attend help groups/sessions for women that have been abused. She should know that she is not alone in this and that she has her loved ones and children behind her.
I know it is very tempting to punch that guy but do think of your mum first. Instead of screaming and cursing at him, find a good time, sit your mum down and let her know your concerns. Tell her how worried you are. In the end, you just want her to be happy. You want her to be with a guy that could take care of her 24/7, is responsible, pays the bills, respectful and is kind to others etc. Don't she feel she deserves a good guy, instead of one who just lazes around the house, calls her fat, doesn't help out around the house etc.
Your mum is an adult. In the end, she leads her own life and she made her own choices. You and your siblings can only help and advise that much. You cannot force her to leave that guy. She has to do that on her own.
I would sit down with my mom and explain to her how I felt about all of it. At the end of the day SHE has to want things to change. As bad as you want them for her, until she decides that she's had enough there isn't really much you can do. But still tell her how you're feeling just to get it off your chest.

I stopped reading after the drinking part. Just another piece of proof among million others how women have the dumbest instincts. All you care about is if the man in question makes the area between your legs wet. The guy who WON'T make your life miserable is always in the friend zone because he's so boring. So you and your mother should both shut the fuck up and live in misery with that loser. That's what you love deep down. Women love to be abused. If I was that guy I would also convince your dumb mother to get married so I can divorce her later and then let her work while I'm dedicating my time to my hobbies. Women have been doing this for decades and wanted to replace men in society. Let's see how you like taking up the same responsibilities then.

Sadly it is your mothers choice. And to be honest, being a single mom with a bunch of kids, she doesn't have a lot of choices.

Learn from her mistakes so you do not repeat them. That is the best you can hope for here.
